Jmanly
Good afternoon all, Is there an authority figure one could call or email with questions about a medical waiver? I don't know that it will get approved but there is a legitimate chance. I'm also coming up on the tail end of the age cap so I need to be well informed about the time line required. Thanks! wheelsup
You could refer to AR 40-501 and the aeromedical policy letters. Anything that's not clearly defined in those would most likely be a question for a flight surgeon.
Jmanly
I've read through all the regs and only found one applicable sentence. I was just hoping someone had a contact with the amount of traffic this forum has.
wheelsup
Or you could ask the question here, someone may be familiar. But ultimately you're going to need to see a flight surgeon if the regs don't have the answers to your questions.
ByteFlighter
I agree with Wheelsup, you may be able to call the Aeromedical center at Rucker and see if they are in the mood to answer questions from an invested applicant, i.e. one that has visited a recruiter and started the application. If you read the regs and only found 1 sentence, chances may be that you are looking for a "policy letter" type of issue instead of a waiver issue. The policy is really just a paragraph entered on your Class 1A by the examining flight surgeon of some abnormality that pertains to policy guidance allowing said abnormality to be passed by without a waiver, under certain conditions. The FS still needs to make the determination on allowing it to slide by before the Class 1A gets sent to Rucker for approval... But ask away on this forum. I'd be surprised to hear of an issue you may have but didn't find info on in any of the other threads...
Jmanly
It's exertional compartment syndrome, not super rare or anything, I just haven't found anything in the forum, surprisingly. I do know it would be waiver. I'll try calling and see if I can get some info from Rucker.
ByteFlighter
Are you currently active duty military or a civilian? and/or Have you been through MEPS? That type of issue is something the MEPS entry physical might have issues with so it may be prudent to get guidance from an Army recruiter first. Jmanly
I'm civilian. I'm only 6wks post op so it's to early to go to MEPS. I was trying not to waste a recruiters time at this point.
