November 2018 Board

Recommended Posts

Anyone else with 19-010 ? And to answer the questions about how HRC is doing the schedule. I can only speak for myself and other Marine prior service applicants. I was able to get a sooner class date than some of the guys who were selected on earlier boards because I do not have to go through bootcamp. I just show up about 3 weeks prior to rucker for processing and to get my uniforms and wait for the class to start.

I'm looking forward to having the marketplace system. Hopefully it works better than bothering the branch manager relentlessly.

So far it hasn't been much better in my experience. I've had friends assigned to places that weren't on the list at all. I had two friends who both were given their last choices, which happened to be the other guy's first choice, same rank, track, etc and HRC wouldn't work a swap. I'm waiting to see how my choices compare to my assignment coming up.

The date that you began the physical. I learned this the hard way.

Hey Barney, I am waiting for WOCS (AD) and Ive had the question of my physical ending. I asked the flight surgeon and he said 18 months from stamp date but I personally thought 18 months from start. What was your experience? Because Ill graduate WOCS with about a week left of my physical from STAMP DATE

I fell into a similar situation as you. Going by the stamp date I would be done with WOCS with the begin date I would expire prior to shipping.

I was assured by my first flight surgeon that it was from the time it was stamped. When I got to my current unit they said I needed to get a continuance for my Class 1.

I called down to Rucker and was told the same thing that my unit had said.

The nightmare was getting seen for a full physical and getting stamped during the holiday season.

Fortunately if you have any waivers that have previously been approved the same paperwork is submitted for a continuance and the physical is stamped fairly quickly after it is submitted.

I wasnt going to risk it with one source saying one thing, and another saying another thing.

It was an absolute pain, and I was a squeaky wheel for several weeks getting everything ironed out, but I now undoubtedly know an expiring physical wont keep me from going.

Hi everyone! Congratulations to everyone who was selected this month, this job is possibly the best job in the world. I am a street-to-seat warrant who was picked up on the February 2018 board. I am currently waiting to start common core in flight school down here at Fort Rucker. I will be available to answer any questions you all may have regarding basic training, WOCS, WOBC, SERE, Fort Rucker, and anything else you can think of. I will also be available to help anyone once you arrive here at Fort Rucker for WOCS. Feel free to PM me or post in the board and I will reply ASAP.

Again, congratulations!

Just out of curiosity, what sort of topics are covered in WOBC? Did you do the 5 or 7 week WOCS? If the 5, how was it?

WOBC is broken down into two parts during flight school; you complete part A before starting flight training and part just before you graduate. You cover a variety of topics such as CVID (Combat Vehicle Identification), Army Aviation history, MDMP (Military Decision Making Process) and a bunch of other "professional development" classes as well. You will also take your swim test while in WOBC. I was part of the last 7 week class to go through WOCS, however we did everything AND more that the 5 week class will do. The first couple weeks are the roughest and then it mellows out. Most of the day there is spent in class anyway and it will go by quickly

Awesome, thank you. Is the swim test in lieu of the "dunker" course? Do they work with, and instruct, the weak swimmers.

Kind of...we no longer have to attend dunker in flight school. It's more to gauge your swimming ability before you go to SERE. If you are a weak swimmer the cadre will work with you and help you out. If you don't pass the swim test, you won't fail WOBC or be disqualified from flight school.

How much swimming is in SERE? Do they have you crawl through drainage pipes and whatnot as well?

Feel free to tell me if I'm asking questions that I shouldn't be asking.

Has any sister service selectees heard what kind of time frame from selection to WOCS date to expect on other threads?

Nothing yet. Has anyone else from the November board received a WOCS Class date yet?

Edit: AD without having to go back through BCT. (Army/Marine Corp)
