Street to seat or sister-service?

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to determine if I would be considered a civilian applicant or not. I'm currently in the IRR for the ANG after being hired by a Guard unit but unfortunately failing the AF flight physical, after which I chose to separate. To take the AF flight physical you have to enlist, so that's how I ended up in this predicament. I was in the Army for 7 years but ETS'ed in 2012 if that in anyway matters.

Everything I've seen says IRR applicants go the civilian street to seat route, but my recruiter told me that's no longer the case. The warrant recruiter only shot back a generic sister service FAQ link which wasn't terribly helpful.

Does anyone have an experience trying to go warrant this way?
