IBS and Flight

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

First post on this forum as Ive lurked in the shadows for a while absorbing valuable information from you all.

Little background on me is that Im a senior in nursing school to obtain my bachelors, but I am interested in a career shift toward aviation utilizing the WOFT route. My concern is that I have diagnosed IBS-C, and take a pill (prucalopride) once a day to manage it with stellar results. I read the AFs waiver guide and saw that IBS was a DQ condition if non-approved pharmacological agents were used.

Anyway, I was wondering if this forum had any pilots in here who a) have IBS and/or B) use methods beyond a diet to control their symptoms. Lastly, is this something I should keep under wraps or...?

Thanks,

Donny
