charlie
Alright, I'm a senior in high school and I really need to hurry up find a good helo school before I graduate. I live in Alabama and a school somewhere in the south east would be great. Does any one know about Helicopter Academy in Jacksonville, FL? P.S.-if you know of any good schools please list them. Thanks for all your help Charlie
rotoflightmaniac1
Hi Charlie, You should probably go the the "training forum" you will find all the info you need, and If you can't find it just ask and everyone will be happy to chip in. I strongly suggest taking the time to go over the 20+ pages in the training forum before you ask any questions though because most everthing you could think of is listed...also,there is a link under flight training here to an Excel file that has over 100 flight schools on it, I have about 80 "filtered" schools on my favorites list that I could send you. Just do a google search on flight schools...seems to me from your post that you have not done any research yourself on the subject...there is much to learn so be ready to spend hours, days, weeks, and months looking at all this stuff. I'm about ready to go to MLH in Hawaii, so I am by no means an experienced expert in Helicopter stuff but do some research check out the training forum and just PM me if you have any questions that I could help you out with. Good Luck, Jake
Skids Up
seems to me from your post that you have not done any research yourself on the subject Plus, if you can't find a school, don't even think you can find a job... ::whisper::
lockedcj7
There's an excellent flight school down near Dothan AL. Actually, I think it's in the little town of Daleville. I can't remember off hand what the name of it is but I'm sure they'd be happy to talk to a high-school senior such as yourself. I've even heard that they will pay for your training as long as you're willing to work for them for a few years after you're done.

joker
Charlie, 'Hurrying up' and 'finding a flight school' should not exist in the same sentence! That's like..."Rushing a preflight". It will only end in tears. Why the rush? Your questions are very vague...as if you have just thought of this last night. Are you stuck for what to spend college money on? My advice...spend it on college! Get into aviation later on. That'll give you another life-skill as well as give you time to research carefully about aviation and start on the right foot. There is some great information on the training forum. Have a look there. Then if you really can't find what you're looking for, then post some specific questions, and everyone will be only too happy to help you. If you're really stuck. its not a reccomendation, but I know of a school called Silver State Helicopters!! I know they have bases around the US. I'm sure they have one near you. joker
Joookerrr --Jokerthats just a bit off the "Senior" might realy believe you, and you would feel real bad. Hmmm, Fling - my friend (and 500E of course), Was that too cynical?! Actually, it was in fact a fail safe filter. You see, the onus is now on Charlie now to do some research and see if SSH is the school for him. I read through my last post, and see that it is riddled with spelling mistakes and punctuation errors...not like the usual me. So obviously I was rushing my reply. I guess my point is / was, that the quality of a reply depends on the quality of the question. (If only the hyper-intelligent pan dimensional beings had known that when they programmed Deep Thought!) Joker On a completely different (and much more interesting) note... I have just noticed that all the 'double-spaces' after full-stops (which I was taught to put in during 'secretarial typing school' many moons ago) get trimmed out after I post my messages!!! Wow...!! All that time wasted hitting the space bar. Also, can anyone tell me what 'Guided Mode' is? P.S. CofG, haven't heard from you in a while. R U still there? flingwing206
Guided Mode On is old-style. With Guided Mode off, you can select and format your text just like a word processer. You can even learn the UB code for strikethrough. With guided mode on, you get the little pop-up boxes instructing you to type whatever text you want formatted. BTW, this new-fangled thing really makes it easy to do some awful things
C of G
Yep, still here, but mostly lurking. You know me, I'm usually quiet until I have something to add. P.S. Happy Holidays all around.
