ToiletDuck
What's the average rate a heli CFI makes? Just curious sence I'm one in airplanes.
delorean
About $20/hr......that varies if you're a employee vs. contract pilot. You might also get an extra $5-10/hr more if you are doing instrument, commercial, or CFI instruction. But when I was a low timer I looked at it as-I was making about $200-250/hr, because that is what it would cost me to rent the helicopter to my build time. I'm not an instructor yet, but it must depend largely on the school. The school I am affiliated with pays their fixed/rotor wing instructors $34/flt hour. Rob2k
Do CFI's get paid an hourly wage, just for each flight hour, or does it just depend?
PhotoFlyer
Depends. Usually its per flight/ground hour.
cptcoma
...we only get $15/hour and $10 for ground.
i4iq
cptcoma Where are you at?
cptcoma
...the flight school is called Helipro Inc. in San Luis Obispo, CA (between Los Angeles and San Francisco). The only helicopter flight school on the central coast. Mainly European students, some Japanese.
PhotoFlyer
Wow...I have never seen the website of a school located in the US whose homepage pops up in another language first.
cptcoma
...yes that is strange. The owner of the school is from Switzerland and I guess he just wants it that way. Maybe it looks more inviting for possible European students. But anyway, it`s a small and very familiar flight school. 3 helicopters (R22s), 3 instructors and about 6-7 students. Good rates! PhotoFlyer
Yea, I can understand wanting it to look familiar to Europeans if they are the majority of your students. But, there are so many languages spoken in Europe, and he chose Dutch and English. English yes, but I didn't think THAT many people spoke Dutch. But what do I know, the only European country I have been to was England.
