Also, need to find out what there might be out there in the market as far as parts? dougtemp Posted May 9, 2006 Report Share Posted May 9, 2006 There are lots of sites on the web, referring to old Bells. Google search: Bell 47 helicopters and Bell 47D helicopters. Also search under Bell 47G and G3B, as the people amassing parts often have them for models other than what they're advertising at that moment. You'll have lots of fun contacting some of the afficionados selling parts, birds, etc. Also, many of them know who has the copters for sale and, very importantly, can share what to look out for in your searching. I was interested in a 47G3B at one time, having spent much time in them years ago, and became acquqinted with many interestering folks as I poked around the market. Good luck. KMWK Posted May 10, 2006 Author Report Share Posted May 10, 2006 Got the best info I could get today from Mr. Bell 47. The G3 is the best to use for training, rides and tours. HH60Pilot Posted May 12, 2006 Report Share Posted May 12, 2006 I flew a D1 for a while and really loved it, it was a great machine and was one of the easiest birds I've flown to autorotate. I visited Allied in Tulsa a few years back and was pretty impressed with their history on the 47. Joey is another one with years of experience with the 47 as well. I can't remember the name of the company, but I found online a company that had all the Bell 47 manuals (pilot and maintenance) on CD-ROM. I found them by doing a google search. I looked at getting a 47 for doing training, but heard one too many stories about problems getting parts and bogus parts on the market...went with the R22 and 300C instead.
