Ft. Rucker Visit

Recommended Posts

Okay guys so here's the deal...

First, I'm planning on WOFTing, I'm a year out, just got my ASVAB done, about to schedule my AFAST, MEPS visit, and Flight Physical this afternoon, working on the LORs, and getting my packet squared away with my recruiter. I'm a second semester Junior at THE Florida State University and upon graduation, it's off to BCT for me. Secondly, just letting y'all know I'm new to the forum so any and all expertise and info I can grab from y'all, please throw it at me as fast as I can get it. NOW the message of the hour...

If there are any VR members at Ft. Rucker, my recruiter (Sgt. Crutchfield) and I, along with a couple of other folks, will be attending Ft. Rucker 26JAN2007. Please let me know if anyone's in the area because I'd love to meet and talk to some guys who know the ropes as well as pick a couple of your brains if you're active duty! Thanks in advance and if there are any suggestions anyone would like to give me on my quest of getting in a Longbow cockpit, I'm all ears.

Also if there's any TH-67 gouge out there, please let me know!

Go to the PHPA website (www.autorotate.com) and post a similar forum. That is a military heavy group and also is very closely affiliated with civilian instructors union at Rucker (LSI) They can give you a good idea of what's up. As for the Longbow, your best bet is to study, do well, and how your class gets some AH-64 slots. If not, you'll like the other aircraft. They all have their own positives and negatives.

Reg, I'm currently at Rucker as a WO1, sorry I didn't see this prior to your visit. I am in BWS right meow, and my active duty class members are about to decide what they want to fly. There are only 4 people out of 48 that want to fly the Apache in my class. Most want either Hawks or Hooks. Then again, that's just my class, it changes everytime. The only thing you can really do, is study your ass off during primary and instruments and be at the top of your class. I am currently #6 in my class with a 95.5 GPA. It's competitive as all hell. If you are going to study ANYTHING before you get here, dont worry about your advanced aircraft until you get there, pick up a Mini -10 from either The Hanger (in Daleville, AL right out side the gate) or Copy Smith (right out side the Enterprise gate) and study that until you can say it verbatim. Anyway, good luck to ya, any questions, feel free to PM or repost here.

Nope, I was selected at my first board. I decided to go this route my senior year at Florida State because it was too late for AROTC at that point. A lot of things were dependant on my graduation with my BS degree but graduation was this 15th and everything's in the green. Why do you ask?

I'm at Ft. Rucker now doing WOCS. (They let me go home for Christmas exodus, I thought it was nice of them)

I wont have graduated yet when you get there in January though, heh, I'm out on Feb 5th. We wont be able to chat even, they are pretty...limiting on your outside contact. Once you get done with WOC though sometime down the road I'll probably have some info regarding further training that may be useful, it's such a long way off for me it's hard to wrap my head around it.

Mostly just wanted you to know there are forum members there and will provide any kind of assistance we possibly can. Find me in the future, post here or send me an email at Kurt.Hodge@gmail.com. I'll get you my phone #. I wont be able to talk once I get off leave though, we dont have phone privilidges yet and even when we do the time is very very limited.
