Settling with power causes the vortex ring effect and creates an unstable condition on the rotor blades and drastically decreases lift, right? C of G Posted February 19, 2007 Report Share Posted February 19, 2007 Settling with Power, is also known as Vortex Ring State, and is an aerodynamic phenomena, whereas Power Settling is simply overboosting or not having enough power to arrest a rate a decent. Both can be applied to main rotor as well as tail rotor, the latter being refered to as tail rotor authority.
