There wasn't a section for Corporate or Charter, so I thought I would start the thread here. Just wondering if anyone has any information about Heliflight Shares, or possibly knows anyone, etc.? Just looking to gain a better personal knowledge about the company other than what their website has to offer. As always, your feedback is much appreciated!

Stay safe!

There is a guy over on JustHelicopters.com in the Alternate forum who had flown with them. He loved it. He told me they fly IFR in NY and the East Coast in Bell 430's. Nice company to work for. Salary wasn't too bad, keep in mind cost of living out there is huge. The turn over is some what low. They hire IFR SIC and Captains although I think most everyone starts out as an SIC then upgrades when there is an opening. Training is top notch as well. Very much corprate/airline like style. Post a thread over there he may answer. He isn't on as much now as he got deployed to Iraq. He worked there I think 4 years and is now an EMS pilot. Hope this helps.

A few minor additions:

- they don't hire captains

- schedule 5/5 (if there is no flight you can stay home)

- they are doing mostly fractional ownership and charter; I wouldn't consider that "airline like" - but I can see your point

- lot more flying in the summer than in the winter

- ~ 600 hours/year

- most important: they are not hiring right now :( ... now you now why I know all this crap! ;)

I've seen their 430 here on Long Island at FRG pretty often this past summer. Didn't know whose it was until viewing this thread. They also liked to fly directly over my house on their way to where ever they were headed (the city or maybe LGA?) so if the pilot of that ship happens to read this - thank you and keep flying over Freeport! :D

Regarding Heliflite Shares hires:

They DO hire Captains contrary to what Phil77 said - they obviously would be rated in the 430 and/or S76, are ATP's and have significant NYC and Instrument experience

FO's are ideally upgraded within a 2-3 year period and have shown progression with their ATP skills especially in the instrument arena. Flying instruments in NYC in a helo is a challenging endeavor and requires an intimate knowledge of how TRACON handles helicopters. This process typically takes two summer seasons for the novice to grasp. Upgrades are not a given. If you don't play well with others you probably will miss the upgrade bus.

350-400hrs/year is typical. Not 600.

Summer season (May-Oct) ramps up thru July/August. Plan on 10 to14 hour days in the summer. 6on/4off or 12on/8off schedule. Nov-April is 5on/5off or 10on/10off.

90 minutes to EWR is a requirement for duty days. Commuting from Long Island will not work, plus the $24 in tolls will kill your budget.

Low turnover in pilot staff - there is a reason for that. Hiring is usually accomplished during the off season

They hire people that play well with others. If you are known for constantly bitching about the job your in, this will travel with you. You may be better off flying a single pilot job somewhere else.

Hope that helps
