  1. I had the same problem..... I sent them to Bose, they changed to different impedence mic, no charge. Tell them ahead of time that you're using them in a Robinson. Bose has a great service department. happy flying
  2. Apply and interview with the established school. If you're lucky eough to be hired approach the job with honor and a good work ethnic. Both you and your employer will prosper from your efforts. It has been my experience that what goes around comes around. Threatening to undermine the present school will most likely end in failure for yourself. The high road is the better road taken. gft
  3. Get out of the cold- Come to sunny Florida. Tomlinson Aviation, Ormond Beach Florida Nice people with several Schweizers and a couple of 206s. gft
  4. Recent history of unexplainable engine outs- As in more than one? I'd have found a new mechanic. gft
  5. Photographed in Sedona Arizona while enroute to California.
  6. WOW! I'm looking forward to the full length feature.
  7. I've bought a half dozen Bose headsets off e-bay- Never been stumped. Know what your buying- Don't buy from a seller that has bad feedback. Happy flying- gft
  8. Yep- When I'm feeling all melancholy and down and I need a little pick me up- I go out and spend all my money on liquor and titty dancers-
  9. I guess they could come to you and others, however the class at the factory is kind of special. Frank Robinson usually opens the class and spends a few hours chatting and answering questions. Other speakers are cream of the crop factory people, most of which have been with Robinson for years with lots of knowledge to pass on. They feed ya lunch (Frank usually comes around for that too). You will also get a great tour of the facility. After the classroom stuff is done they let you fly one of their new helicopters. In my case we flew to the port of Long Beach and practiced autos. Did full downs back at TOA. Did I mention the morning break donuts? Yeah, it's a pain in the butt to travel to LA, but I think the safety class is worth the price of admission. When you get the time and the money check it out. gft
  10. Sooner or later you'll wish you had the safety course completed and behind you. Like when you have to turn down a flight or job because you haven't attended. It's a must for all Robys flying under the Pathfinder umbrella. (there's a bunch of them) The safety course is both informative and fun. You'll meet pilots from all over the country and world. Highlights include a factory tour and great donuts every morning. happy flying, gft
  11. Interesting that I found this thread this morning. I was flying a Raven II into KSGJ last evening just after dark- 1/2 mile out at 300 feet and 60 kts with landing lights on when- WHOP! - bird strike Right on the canopy just above and directly in front of my right knee. In the mila-second that the bird flashed through the landing lights I recognized it as a hawk. No damage to the 44, probably can't say that for the Hawk. As loud as the WHOP was I can't believe it didn't crack the lexan. That was a first for me, helicopter of fixed wing. Also a first for my two passengers who are both rotorcraft pilots.
  12. Breathe normal man- breathe normal- you'll be fine-
  13. Use a pair of bi-focal flip ups. I use a pair from Scheyden. They come in several styles and are easy to use. With sunglass lenses or without. Their website is: www.scheyden.com I pop them open and closed quickly with two fingers from either hand. No hassle from headset or ball cap. gft
  14. Tomlinson Aviation in Ormond Beach is a Enstrom dealer & service center. Maybe they can turn you on to an available ride. best of luck, gft
