Something funny about how the poll is set up.

 

I marked a figure in the Pilot section and keyed Submit, but it wouldn't let me do it until I marked something in the Engineer section - so I marked "Not an engineer" and it accepted.

 

Assuming that only pilots and engineers are going to vote, and that engineers will tick "not a pilot", then the "not a pilot" and "not an engineer" should capture everybody. So why is one 40% and the other 80.4%??

hey bud, there is a big difference between a mechanic and an engineer.

An Engineer is an a/c mechanic North of the border, an A&P is an a/c mechanic South of the border.

Ummm 67november? i happen to have a degreee in mechanical engieering ( so i am an engineer) i also have an A&P license which makes me a mechanic. My BIG question to your 'splanation is this: Am i still a mechanic if i travel north of the border, even tho i am already an engineer? OR shud i just stay home

yeh, you'd still be a mechanical engineer until T.C. gave ya your AME, so I guess the answer is "stay home"

Each poll is independent of the other one. The 80% is just for the pilot poll. The other percentage is just for the mechanic/engineer poll. They will not add up because it is not tied together. It is a little confusing and not as useful data for me but I just wanted to get a general idea. I'll see if I can work on another type of poll to add into this board that makes a little more sense.

A Lot of Mechanics are also Pilots but not a lot of Pilots are Mechanics

Ya know, there is another thing that would be nice to add to this poll. It would be nice to know what jobs go with these salaries, just to get an idea of what the going rate for certain jobs might be. I know it all comes down to experience, but I'm sure there must be an average between the different types of jobs. Like, CFI's probably make the least amount, versus fire fighting which probably pays more, no? Just a thought.
