  1. Hey thanks for the input guys I appreciate it!
  2. I was just curious to know if anyone has an idea of approximately how much tour companies in Hawaii make? Paradise, Sunshine, Blue Hawaiin, etc. I'm interested in possibly working there someday and I am just trying to get an idea of income compared to cost of living out there as well as moving my stuff out there. Any help would be great. Thanks

  4. I was wondering if anyone has any good or bad experience with this headset or if you would just like to rant about why this little piece of equipment costs $425.00, that would be great too! I'm a helicopter pilot and I realize that I will probably have to use an adapter plug but I don't know how much noise it would cancel out. LightSPEED Light Flight Mach 1
  5. Hey guys, I have just started with my flight training and I only have about 17 hours so far. My overall goal with a helicopter career is eventually to fly for law enforcement. I'm just trying to set my plan now so I know what's ahead of me whenever I get all of my certificates. I do not have police experience but I do have 7 years USMC experience as well as a degree in criminal justice(don't know if would help with the issue or not). Will I have to become a police officer before I can fly for a department?
  6. Hey, do u happen to know of any other colleges that work with flight schools(post 9/11 Gi affiliated) other than the school you are going to in Oregon?
  7. Thanks Falko, that eases my mind a lot. I thought I would have to pay for everything up front.
  8. I understand that with the old Gi Bill, the VA will reimburse me for further training after I pay for my PPL. So, my understanding is that if I want to become a professional pilot, then I basically would have to obtain all of the money($60,000) that is required to pay for training and then the VA will reimburse me for 60% of whatever I pay. Well, I visited a flight school that I am interested in and the CFI that showed me around said that I would not have to have all of the money up front. He told me that the VA would pay 60% of any fees that I would have without me having to pay the entire fee up front. So, do I need $60,000 in my pocket in order to finish a career pilot route? Do I just need to get around $35,000 in order to finish the career pilot route?(this figure is in regards to me paying around $15,000 for the PPL and the remaining 40% of what the VA doesn't cover. Rough estimate) Any insight would be great. Thanks
  9. Hey thanks for all of the info. I'll be sure to check into this.
  10. Hey everyone, I really appreciate your advice and input. I'm getting out of the military in a few months and I am trying to find out what career path I am going to take. From the research that I have been doing I believe I have found a way to get my training paid for without being in debt. The new Post 9/11 GI Bill apparently will pay for me to get a degree in aviation as well as pay for my flight training. I'm still not 100% on this subject so any input would be great. I would like to find a flight school and an aviation college in the state of Florida that work hand-in-hand with one another so I can use the GI Bill. I'm aware of some of the schools like Utah Valley but I would like to avoid out of state tuition. Any insight on this matter would be great. Upon returning to the states I do plan on doing a discovery flight. Any suggestions on where?
  11. Just looking for advice on whether I should begin a professional pilot career with the economy the way it is.
  12. Hey thanks for the input guys, I appreciate it. It sounds like a pretty sweet deal with the new gi bill covering all of the flight costs!
  13. I'm a Marine currently serving in Iraq. I will be returning to the states around September and I will be getting out of the Marine Corps to become a civilian. I have wanted to do helicopter school for a long time but I am unsure of the financial situation that is involved. Does anyone know how the GI bill works for flight training? Also, what are the odds of getting loans these days? Any help would be great, thanks.
  14. Are there any programs or companies that will pay for someone to go through helicopter school in exchange for a contract to work for them?
