  3. Typing on an iPad is horrible by the way, sorry for the typos haha
  4. I have been out of the military for 14 yrs now, and never used my GI Bill, so believe I lost those benefits. I am however approved for the VA's new VRAP program, or veterans retraining assistance program. It shows, and I hear I can use it for flight training towards commercial and training conducive towards becoming a professional pilot. I am already a licensed heli pilot (private) with about 255 hrs, and was working towards commercial. I would like to finish that out and possibly get instrument on way as they were the only requirements I needed for Comm. (10 instrument hrs) Does anyone have any experience with getting the flight training thru this program? Anyone know or are a VA employee that could steer me in right direction? It does say in some places, that it is used towards a 2 year degree or certificate program, which I'd rather not do, since I'm way past that point in college credits already, now going onto my 4 th year of my bachelors degree. I know I rea they now include flight training to certain schools, just wondering what or who hose certain schools or programs are so as all the benefit money ($1564/ month for 12 months) would go entire U to flight training Ay help here? Thanks

  7. I absolutely love flying my x plane 9, now 10! I definitely felt it kept me mentally in the game when I had some longer breaks during my initial heli training, say of a couple months or more... Now a little further along in hours, but never quite went for instrument yet, I like to set it to some dense fog, or dark as can be night, and fly the instruments only and track back to an airport away from my home town and back.. I do feel it also kept my cyclic pretty precise, and getting back into the heli, the instructor was surprised to find I was still accurate with the controls, radios and procedures.. Like I never stopped for the couple months!
  8. I run a company involved in educating local youth in aviation. We also offer helicopter flight training. We had an R22 through a friend of ours that a buddy of his owns, but he recently leased it to another company who was guaranteeing a LARGE number of hours per month due to their sheer size.. That leaves us looking to lease something as soon as possbile! We have scheduled events and I would rather not cancel these events, as well as a couple student about to start regularly scheduled training. I've looked into, but haven't really contacted companies recently, like spritzer... They told me before they had nothing in stock at the moment, but I could check back with them. If anyone knows of a place I could obtain an R22 ASAP, please respond, or even pm me.. It would be very much appreciated! Thanks everyone!
  9. Is this Opportunity still available? I myself would like to get my 44 transiton/signoff, as well as, I may have another guy, CFI, who needs his as well.. we could make the trip together and all fly in a weeken (5+ hrs each) Let me know asap Thanks
  10. Id be interested in a group of hours! PM me immediately if this is still available please!! R22 - PPL just over 100 hrs and working towards commercial
  11. Where are you located? I am from the Philadelphia Area and would be interested in your deal in a month or so.. Have some questions if you could private message me.
  12. I posted this over in the military section but got no replies so far.. Just wanted some quick advice, as i have a possible meeting about this in a day or two.. So.. I had a great vision of going WOFT and my recruiter even thought I was very knowledgeable and in shape for a 32 yr old (I play semi Pro and Pro level lacrosse. I already have my private helicopter license.. and aced every practice test my recruiter could throw at me.. I was previous NAVY also, so that helped with some of the basic tests.. Thought I was a strong candidate, but then my medical review came back declined, all because of a "couldn't sleep" issue on the aircraft carrier while in the Navy.. The doc said in my record that Claustrophobia was suspected, and they discharged me.. My recruiter worked on this and asked what we needed to do for that.. and was given specific instructions and details on what they needed to get past that and accept my packet. They sent me to a Psychiatrist (on my own money) to get a diagnosis evaluation.. Said he didn't see any signs of claustrophobia.. and sent whatever info the Army needed right over.. Still declined. Ive heard of going to my state Rep. supposedly they have authority of some sort, to get past things like this. Have a local kid who was declined for Marines.. because of a medical condition, and did this, and who has since been accepted and shipped out. . any one know what to do in this situation?? Flying Choppers is my passion, and I want to make it my life. But this glitch is proving to be a burden, and I am turning 33 in 4 1/2 months! think that's still the deadline age.. Any help would be appreciated.

  14. Im loving all the input, thanks everyone.. Im not planning on logging any time on my at home sims.. Was basically asking about the sims( the approved ones) just to see if they were even worth the time and money, or was it better to just keep applying that money towards flying the actual thing.. I have about 90 hrs.. R22 time and Private License. My previous CFII did make several comments about how even after not flying for a month, sometimes 2, I was his only student who could do that and still pick up into and hold a solid stable hover.. and my maneuvers weren't over controlled so to speak. He was skeptical about my "game play" on the sim at home.. But then later gave into it and thought it may have something to do with the reason I was still pretty "stick" proficient. I thought about getting the collective and pedals for the PC sim.. Anyone know where to get them at a decent price? if anyone here even has them? Thanks Joe
  15. I was wondering about simulator time. like what kind of simulator counts as time.. is it even worth it for hour building at all? or is it just a kind of proficiency thing... i know noting trains or feels like the real thing.. Also.. I know my X-plane 9 sim on my computer doesn't count as time... But it does seem to help me to stay a little tighter on the stick, and with approaches.. between flights which may be weeks or even months at a time.. But all I'm using is the stick.. Anyone know of where to get decent but cheap sim controls like pedals and a collective? Anyone else use this themselves? does it seem to work for you?
