  3. I have been out of the military for 14 yrs now, and never used my GI Bill, so believe I lost those benefits. I am however approved for the VA's new VRAP program, or veterans retraining assistance program. It shows, and I hear I can use it for flight training towards commercial and training conducive towards becoming a professional pilot. I am already a licensed heli pilot (private) with about 255 hrs, and was working towards commercial. I would like to finish that out and possibly get instrument on way as they were the only requirements I needed for Comm. (10 instrument hrs) Does anyone have a

  6. I absolutely love flying my x plane 9, now 10! I definitely felt it kept me mentally in the game when I had some longer breaks during my initial heli training, say of a couple months or more... Now a little further along in hours, but never quite went for instrument yet, I like to set it to some dense fog, or dark as can be night, and fly the instruments only and track back to an airport away from my home town and back.. I do feel it also kept my cyclic pretty precise, and getting back into the heli, the instructor was surprised to find I was still accurate with the controls, radios and pro
  7. I run a company involved in educating local youth in aviation. We also offer helicopter flight training. We had an R22 through a friend of ours that a buddy of his owns, but he recently leased it to another company who was guaranteeing a LARGE number of hours per month due to their sheer size.. That leaves us looking to lease something as soon as possbile! We have scheduled events and I would rather not cancel these events, as well as a couple student about to start regularly scheduled training. I've looked into, but haven't really contacted companies recently, like spritzer... They told me
  8. Is this Opportunity still available? I myself would like to get my 44 transiton/signoff, as well as, I may have another guy, CFI, who needs his as well.. we could make the trip together and all fly in a weeken (5+ hrs each) Let me know asap Thanks
  9. Id be interested in a group of hours! PM me immediately if this is still available please!! R22 - PPL just over 100 hrs and working towards commercial
  10. Where are you located? I am from the Philadelphia Area and would be interested in your deal in a month or so.. Have some questions if you could private message me.
  11. I posted this over in the military section but got no replies so far.. Just wanted some quick advice, as i have a possible meeting about this in a day or two.. So.. I had a great vision of going WOFT and my recruiter even thought I was very knowledgeable and in shape for a 32 yr old (I play semi Pro and Pro level lacrosse. I already have my private helicopter license.. and aced every practice test my recruiter could throw at me.. I was previous NAVY also, so that helped with some of the basic tests.. Thought I was a strong candidate, but then my medical review came back declined, all

I already have my private helicopoter license.. and aced every practice test my recruiter could throw at me.. I was previous NAVY also, so that helped with some of the basic tests.. Thought I was a strong candidate, but then my medical review came back declined, all because of a "couldn't sleep" issue on the aircraft carrier while in the Navy.. The doc said in my record that Claustrophobia was suspected, and they discharged me.. M
  13. Im loving all the input, thanks everyone.. Im not planning on logging any time on my at home sims.. Was basically asking about the sims( the approved ones) just to see if they were even worth the time and money, or was it better to just keep applying that money towards flying the actual thing.. I have about 90 hrs.. R22 time and Private License. My previous CFII did make several comments about how even after not flying for a month, sometimes 2, I was his only student who could do that and still pick up into and hold a solid stable hover.. and my maneuvers weren't over controlled so to speak.
  14. I was wondering about simulator time. like what kind of simulator counts as time.. is it even worth it for hour building at all? or is it just a kind of proficiency thing... i know noting trains or feels like the real thing.. Also.. I know my X-plane 9 sim on my computer doesn't count as time... But it does seem to help me to stay a little tighter on the stick, and with approaches.. between flights which may be weeks or even months at a time.. But all I'm using is the stick.. Anyone know of where to get decent but cheap sim controls like pedals and a collective? Anyone else use this themse
  15. That's one of the main reasons I posted this topic. If i do decide to buy this 500, id most definately do it with intentions of swapping out the motor! Turbine being first choice! Although a used lycoming out of a 22 that was cracked up or something. I do not trust the rotax. I've owned plenty of jetskis that seized at full throttle, and i consider myself a well capable mechanic! Just don't trust that motor with my life at 900+ feet and 100kts!
  16. I have heard all the horror stories of these mini 500's but one has come up for sale in my area that looks to be well built and maintained, with all of the suggested upgrades (minus the engine) it is still running on the 582 rotax, Which scares me.. I would much rather convert it to a Turbine! That aside for now.. What are peoples takes on these machines? I hear some say it s a great design, once its had the upgrades. Thankks in advance,
  17. Thanks for the help guys! Upon speaking with Bose, They say that its not a broken headset, Its the type mic i got.. I got a dynamic (Low impedance) mic. I need for Robinsons at least, a High Impedance Mic. $195 charge! I may just sell my headset and look for a used one with the mic i need, Unless someone has a High Impedance (Electret) mic they wanna sell me cheap???? I'm open!! Let me know1
  18. recently acquired (purchased) a supposedly new and never used before Bose X headset(single plug type for helis). Guy assured me up and down they were perfect condition , never used.. I plug em into the R22 when i got em, and I can hear tower, radios, and passenger just fine, But not my own voice, nor can they hear my voice. The radio pick up doesn't even register when i talk, and Ive had the VOX knob all the way up!! I had my daughter in with me on the ground with just the master switch on, and she can slightly hear me when i slightly depress the talk trigger, or she presses the cabin button b
  19. Just wondering, Anyone near the PA/NJ/NY/MD area, or somewhere not too far from that, That possibly owns or operates a helicopter, that could maybe take me along to log time during your already funded operations? Not sure how something like this would work,, Just throwing out some ideas that could just net me some time, I'd be willing to pay you directly for some time while doing anything you would already be doing, News, AG, Again, Just trying to build some time towards commercial. Im just about a 100hr PPH, All R22 time.
  20. Wow......... Creative.. But Nuts! Better off saving money and at least buy and build a REAL "Kit" helicopter , like the mosquito.. At least its made with real aviation grade parts, and proven technologies.. And Oh Yea.. Definitely get some lessons, even if only 10-20 hrs.. You need to know how to handle these things.. Im sure every one of us can say that our first few hours, Our lives were literally saved by our instructor catching an out of control hover attempt!! See link!!
  21. After extensive research into this same thing, Id choose the helicycle.. Turbine Powered, and from owners Ive talked to, Stable, Reliable, and proven design! Downside is One Seat, so strictly a time builder for me I guess.. But id love one! Then Again, I have owned a few Waverunners and Jetskis, And always found someone who I knew or met along the lines that was up for flying in pairs.. Makes it more fun to go places if there were two of you and Two Machines.... Anhow.. I'd Go Helicycle
  22. I personally am looking at obtaining a Helicycle in the near future.. cant beat the Turbine Power, and Its a proven design as well! From people I've talked to who own them, they would choose nothing else! Have you looked into them at all?
  23. I had to do a report for school (aviation science Degree) and chose this "Kit" helicopter. I am a rated heli Pilot myself.. And after much research, learned that these Hummingbirds were originally designed for the military as a light transport helicopter and had every intention of being a certified ship. That being said, when the design or program was scrapped, Sikorsky sat it aside until someone saw the possibilities of this light 4 seater in the market, and feelling they already spent a good deal of money developing the hummingbird and certifying it to an extent, They decided to offer it int
  24. I am interested asap!! I am actually "according to my instructor's last recommendations" about 3-5 hrs away from being ready for my Private check ride. i have about 67-68 hrs now. Its been about 4-5 weeks since I've flown last due to lack of money and a new job, But am expecting a check very soon that would net me all i need to fly, build and finish my Private rating. Please PM me asap Thanks!!
