  1. The pattern is filling quickly.
  2. A drifter is to your car as rap is to music... Nissan_350z_Drift-655x465.jpg
  3. If I am reading iChris's chart correctly at 70 knots the 16k pound helo has the same descent rate as the 20k pound helo. Below that airspeed the heavier helo has a higher ROD. This appeals to me. Above 70 knots the heavier helo has a slower ROD. I don't like that part of the chart. Not one bit.
  4. Not to speak ill of the dead, but that almost perfectly describes why the Naciamento is nicknamed Brogdan's pond.
  5. The TSA is the next closest thing to worthless and should be disbanded. It is an ungodly waste of taxpayer money and only has a slightly better return on investment than any other welfare program.
  6. With a little work that thing would make a nice drifter.
  7. Tim Bradley used to own a helicopter service company called Helicopter Solutions. One of his students was a former NASCAR owner turned announcer. Once his student got his PPL he bought a LongRanger and kept it at his shop. That's the kind of marketing we should be doing, introducing those who would benefit most from the advantages of rotary wing flight to the industry. We also need to be good at minimizing the pitfalls that go along with being an owner operator.
  8. For once I'm not exactly sure what iChris is illustrating. Manhattan explained how Ray Prouty sees it, to wit: increases in gross weight slow your (autorotative) descent. As Manhattan states, this is very counterintuitive. Fixed wing increases in gross weight decrease (engine out) glide performance. Intuition tells me the same should apply to rotary wing.
  9. So professional wrestling is fake and scripted too ?
  10. The USN still uses flag signaling extensively as well as semaphore use. They have a whole rate dedicated to the signalman.
  11. The height velocity curve is based on airspeed. Downwind takeoffs should have no effect on autorotative capability, until the touchdown. But the touchdown portion isn't part of the height velocity curve either technically. Even though you can autorotate from zero airspeed, you can't from zero height (agl).
  12. I debated the ANR non ANR headset for quite awhile before buying a non ANR headset. I suspect your discrepancy is related to the ANR system. Have you tried the same setup while disabling your ANR ?
  13. Oh, sorry...I thought this thread was about avbug.
  14. Everyone does want his autograph, right after they get yours. Hopefully your autograph is not on a citation.
  15. A million brazilians has a nice ring to it. I'm sure the AW139 cost them a few million brazilians.
  16. I have observed in my aviation career that fear of heights rarely translates into fear of flying, or vice versa.
  17. With a long enough run (like on a runway) a downwind takeoff is no different than an upwind takeoff. When your groundspeed on a downwind takeoff is equal to the tailwind component, you are in essence hovering in no wind. from then on aerodynamically the downwind takeoff is no different aerodynamically than a no wind takeoff. The only difference is the takeoff ground run distance.
  18. A good aircraft (and engine(s)) will bring back an extinct dinosaur's roar.
  19. At least it wasn't a good old domestic violence call. If I was the partner who got financially screwed it probably would have been.
  20. A rose by any other name, would smell as sweet...-Shakespeare-
