  1.

Everything I've read since I started this process last year, has said that each year at least one or two boards get canceled. Which makes some sense considering it's the only Warrant Officer MOS that has 6 scheduled boards each year. Good luck to everybody who gets their packet in for July.

I can't wait to be throwing elbows, up against twice the usual amount of applicants as we all fight for a spot.....like trying to get on the last lifeboat off the titanic. Very Hunger Games-esk.

  2. Wasn't selected. Looks like civilian side was 12 selected out of 19 applicants this month.

If I wasn't selected I was planning on going in enlisted and apply again for woft as many times as it takes. I understand non selected will be looked at again in the next board but I don't have time to be sitting around until May. My wife isn't a US citizen and will be going home soon for a few months, so I need my basic training to overlap with that time frame. If I sign up as enlisted right away, does anyone know what will happen as far as the next board? Will my packet still be looked at again, and will it still be considered under civilian or will it switch to the active duty side?

    Stats

    Age 30

Gt: 140? (Don't remember precisely, took asvab 2 years ago, and was only able to glance at the results. 97 overall, gt was 130s or 140s)

    SIFT: 75

    Pt: 290

    Education: bachelors in economics

Lor: 2 from former bosses and 1 from martial arts coach

    Waiver: lasik

Seems the biggest thing was lack of flight experience and lack of lor from any aviators. Was hoping college degree and high scores in sift, gt, and pt would be enough to make it through.

I think it be kind of shortsighted to enlist. I know what you're saying about wanting to get a career started, but you're coming up on that age cutoff. I think you'd almost be less competitive as a active duty applicant because you'd have a very short military career vs someone who enlisted at 18 and now has a degree/deployments etc.

I'd probably try and update your LOR for the next board before enlisting. A member or two from the military could only help IMO. I'm no expert though, just giving my input.

  3. Good luck everyone being looked at this week! I can remember what it felt like for me two months ago. Just quell any apprehension you may be feeling with the fact that no matter what, it is out of your hands now, and if you get picked up, great! If not, go back to the drawing board, work on boosting your packet and never quit. Follow your dreams and don't take no for an answer.

  4. I was looking at it more along the lines of you not getting the airframe you signed up for. Personally, the biggest advantage the Guard has is that you already know what airframe you'll be flying before you even go to Rucker.

If I had signed up with the guard because I wanted Hawks and got switched to apaches I'd be kind of pissed. I understand what you're saying about the benefits of FW though, it just wouldn't be my preference.
