Flight school Web sites * the good the bad and the ugly

Hi all,

i believe that the flight school's web site it one of their most important advertisements these days. I was wondering who out there has the best. I certainly don't know them all but here is my vote for number one.....

That is a good site, I had seen it before. I like cbhelos.com but it is not really flight school focused. It is just very well done and just a professional site.

Just recently redone. Make sure to check out the Hangar Hangout, its rather unique!

The videos on the hd site were neat, well done and something you certainly don't see.

Glad to see this site listed. i have a friend that flies his Citation into Denton once or twice a month.. he always visits this school to chat and says they are ultra professional and constantly busy. Denton is a cool town, i would look into it if i were moving there or lived near there for sure.

Nice, especially the ships!!! Sure would like to have that bell and md to train in!! Sweet. Also your photos are super nice, looks like they were taken with a hd camera or something. The whole site is very professional looking!!

It depends what you are looking for when selecting a flight school. I spent some time on that website a few weeks ago. Although it was entertaining, the videos on nearly every page were a bit overwhelming and seemed a bit too "look at me, I'm a bad @ss helicopter pilot."

When I was picking my flight school I wanted clear concise information on what to expect during training, information about the job market, a little info about why they are going to be better at getting me a job, safety records, prices and phone numbers to real people to talk about it. I looked at a lot of websites when I was choosing my school, although I agree they are important, I didn't s pend much time on the individual sites, and it didn't make a huge difference in my choice.

Well, i thought about this one for a few days.. and i agree with Sparker... Most of the sites have good areas and not so good areas...

so, i guess i should have started the post with "what parts of what sites do you like the best". Or, "what would you most like to see on/in a schools web site?"

I like www.verticaladvantagehelicopters.com - it's an attractive, clean website that's easy to navigate and find the info you want. Good selection of pictures but none that dominate the sight and no annoying videos or silly sound effects!

THe most annoying thing that a website can have is some kind of automatic sound. especially if there is no instantly apparent way of silencing it. Videos can be just as bad, especially if I'm going to be checking the site frequently.

I'm sorry, but the High Desert helo page might be more convincing if the special forces/law enforcement wannabe depicted was standing in front of a gunship. As it is, it smacks of dressing up in a g suit, helmet and oxygen system and standing in front of a c-150......or a Hells Angel straddling a Big Wheel.

But I'm sure it appeals to a certain segment of the population......

(I'm looking for the emoticon with the "L" on the forehead)

Just tell me where you are, what you fly and give me some assurance I'm not going to pay too much while I'm betting some poor cfi $45-an-hour that I can't kill him/her.....
