500E Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 http://www.news8.net/news/stories/1008/565890.htmlDo not understand delay,I thought the unit was a real time read out of position? if the plot does not move or disappears one would hope a routine would be put into operation to ascertain is the helio ok Quote
AngelFire_91 Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 Yeah I don't really quite get the delay either. It seems to me that the controllers at Andrews should have initiated something when they dropped off the radar and couldn't get a hold of them. Quote
Gomer Pylot Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 Which system? I don't know what the MSP uses on their helicopters, if anything. It's not unusual to have problems with the satellite link for the common reporting systems, Outerlink and Satcom. It's up to the individual program to decide on tracking procedures, if any. Quote
500E Posted November 2, 2008 Author Posted November 2, 2008 Hi GP Read report that they had a tracking system, don't think it said what, but if you are talking to ground controller with radar & you go of the plot with no comms when called, " Sixteen minutes in, there were still no whereabouts for Trooper Two, despite GPS tracking technology". Surely an alarm bell would go of in your head especially if you had just refused to give requested radar approach. Quote
