Gomer Pylot Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 It's Faux Noise. Consider the source. The oil companies aren't about to be nationalized, it's just rhetoric. One congresscritter can't make that happen. The salaries and profits are obscene. Exxon/Mobil, Shell, and others are reporting profits (not revenue, but after-tax profits) larger than the gross national product of most countries in the world. There is little if any oil off the east and west coasts, and the oil companies don't really want to drill there, that's just rhetoric from them. There is no infrastructure in place for drilling, nevermind production, and they can't even drill the leases they already have in the GOM. Communist my a$$. Quote
AngelFire_91 Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 Faux News "fair and balanced?" Bwah ha ha ha. Quote
devonaire Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 Interesting leap of logic - Fox News is the problem? Not the congresswomen threatening to "socialize" (she probably meant "nationalize") the oil industry? I can understand wanting to keep microphones away from the Left (notice that Joe Biden and Howard Dean disappeared in the last part of the campaign). However, with the liberal press out of the closet and the Socialists, er, "Liberals" in charge, it's not going to be quite so easy to cover up any more. I'm going to sit back, relax and see just how long it takes for some of you to get your heads out of the "up and locked" position......after all - it's no longer the White Male Republican's fault any more. Gomer Pylot Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 Liberal press? Which ones? The Moonie Times? There are essentially no major newspapers in the US that are liberal. As for TV, the anchors all make millions of dollars per year, and are all Republicans. The myth of the liberal press is just that - a myth. Some are more moderate than others, but all are rather conservative, and none played up the Republican sex scandals, or the idiocies of the McCain/Palin campaign. No matter what one Congresswoman says, the oil companies are not about to be nationalized, nor are any other companies. At the behest of Bush, some of the banks have been partially nationalized, but they begged for it. I'll be interested to see how long that lasts. Quote
Darkhorse Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 Oh man, political discussion....must...resist....whew, I typed it out but had the strength to reign in my comments on the liberal media err uh media not being liberal. I laughed myself tired thinking about how NBC's 82% negative stories against McCain were fair compared to their 13% toward President elect. Dang....I missed the mark again and talked about it. I'm glad the election is over and support the office of the President dont get me wrong...but any thinking man (or women) can see the press is overwhelmingly bias. Quote
helonorth Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 When you don't like what you're hearing, some people will blame the messenger... the "mainstream" media or what ever you want to call it. We sure went from calling Democrats "socialists"to "communists" in a hurry. But you could smell the desperation at the end. Oh yeah, we'reblaming people that voted Obama for nationalizing the oil business. Oh, that didn't (nor will it)happen. Even if it did (it won't) what would "operators" need to be afraid of? Take it to JH. Iforgot, they don't allow this b.s. anymore, either! Quote

I think you might have an exhuast leak in the cabin. Time to invest in a CO monitor, your brain cells will thank you later. Quote
Scarab Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 Anybody remember when the Fed's took over the Mustang Ranch in Nevada? 1990 I think. They couldn't operate it at a profit Selling hookers and whiskey. Quote
CFIAP5544 Posted November 10, 2008 Author Posted November 10, 2008 Damn! Must have touched a nerve. Sorry. I know nationalization seems rediculous but I would NEVER underestimate the stupidity of the government. Oh well guess we will just sit around and wait for all of that spreading of the wealth. Hopefally they will be spreading around the helicopters to! Quote
