500E Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 Am I the only one who finds the help\ search function frustrating Quote
Hovergirl Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 I know when I've done searches (search forum) it's given me about a bajillion search results, based on the words appearing anywhere in any reply. Also it's frustrating that phrases aren't necessarily kept together, so "Stuck collective" may give me a thread with "stuck in the snow" in the third reply, and "hippie hemp-growing collective" in the 7th reply, and no stuck collectives in sight! Is there any way to search for a word only in thread titles? or to search for a phrase and only get results where the words appear together? I'm really stuck for an answer, but maybe collectively we can come up with a solution... hvg Quote
captkirkyota Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 "hippie hemp-growing collective"Now THAT brings the FUNNAY right there. Quote

Adding a + sign in front of each word will guarantee that word is found in the post. There are other tricks too, but I can't seem to find a list easily. Quote
Hedge36 Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 Try a Google search: http://www.google.com/search?q=%22hughes+5...alreference.com Quote

Thanks Skeltor for the tip. this board uses a simple search function, so you need to choose your search word with some thought. Lyn should have or be able to get the search function listing of search perameters. Quote
500E Posted November 18, 2008 Author Posted November 18, 2008 try searching for R44 or Robinson Quote
Hedge36 Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 try searching for R44 or Robinson I use Google a lot for such things, as one of my motorcycle forums restricts searches to three letters or more to keep from bogging down the server. The only downside is that Google won't find some forum posts until it crawls the site again, which could be any x number of days. So, try it: search "robinson site:helicopterforum.verticalreference.com" in Google and see if you like the result. http://www.google.com/search?q=robinson+si...alreference.com Quote
500E Posted November 19, 2008 Author Posted November 19, 2008 Not Goggle search. Try search in forums drop down Quote
Hedge36 Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Not Goggle search. Try search in forums drop down I have, and I do. And, to cover my bases if I'm really trying to find something... I often use both. Quote
