USAR153D
I would like the opinions of as many people as possible. Is a civilian with a degree more competitive for the WOFT Program than a prior service (Marine Corps) applicant with no college degree? Here's my stats so far: 109 AFAST117 GT75 AFQT-ASVAB Now I realize a few things. First, I know that my scores on these tests aren't the highest that I've seen or heard of. I'm not ashamed of them, hence posting them on this discussion board. Of course I would like them to be higher but eh, they are what they are. Also, having no college experience isn't going to be looked at by the selection board as favorable I'm assuming. If I could get some opinions on how competitive I may/may not be that would be great. I know there's individuals on here who are currently in flight school, have recently been selected or are even veteran pilots and I invite and welcome everyone's "two cents." From what I'm typically hearing there's roughly 250-300 153A applicants per selection board and roughly 30-40 of those get selected.
1badz32
LOL, my ASVAB was 75 with a 117 GT.
FLHooker
just a small portion of the big picture that they look at. That, is what I think. Either way, they are not bad scores.
USAR153D
LOL, my ASVAB was 75 with a 117 GT.What are the chances of that huh?! Do you have any college credits?

So I'm hoping that will help make up somewhat for the lack of college experience.

USAR153D
So the extension on my conditional release is now approved as of today! Last thing I need is an APFT score and to appear in front of the recruiting Battalion board so I can have my packet up to Ft. Rucker in time for July's WOFT board. One thing's for sure I'm going to be running my butt off for the next week or so...

I think my original conditional release was approved March 3-Jul 3 this ones good until Oct 29. I talked with the recruiter this morning and he said that even theoretically if I took an APFT tomorrow morning, getting me a date for the Battalion board and then having my packet received by Ft. Rucker in time for the 153A Board the 3rd week in July will be tough.
IWannaFly
Submit it anyway. Mine was a couple days late so I thought it would just sit there and go to the following board but they looked at it even though it was late. Good luck. FLHooker
Cliff, I still can't get over the fact that you are waiting on a PT test. Get it the hell in! Go do a PT test, get your packet in. No time better than NOW. Don't wait until your conditional release lapses again. They aren't looking for PT studs. It helps, but it is not the end all, be all. No time better than NOW. Don't wait until your conditional release lapses again. They aren't looking for PT studs. It helps, but it is not the end all, be all. CHADYou're right. I can't believe it myself! The only hesitation that I have is the fact that the semester of school I am currently in is over July 21, after July's board. This is my 1st semester of college with this school and they awarded me 35 credits for my military experience. However, obviously they will not be able to provide me with transcripts untill the end of my 1st semester (July 21) because I don't have a GPA yet. You may say well, provide the transcripts from my prior community college experience (8 credits) but to that I would respond "you do not want to know my GPA nor would I like the board to either." I was a young punk at the time not taking school too seriously, you know how the story goes. Sooo long story short I will not be able to provide transcripts for my packet for July's board. The flip side of this is that for the next 153A Board (September), I will have 45 credits earned and a 4.0 GPA and be on the President's List. I don't know how they would list me or wherever the info is that they notate my educational experience if I was to submit my packet for July's 153A Board. In this situation, I'm assuming that they would list me as no prior college, since I wouldn't have transcripts for July's board?! Being that you have two shots at getting accepted now before having to wait a year to reapply, what would be my best course of action?! I know a lot of applicants have prior college and it is definitely looked highly upon. Also, since the process has been drawn out, partially due to procrastination on my part and mostly to do with MARFORRES, I am becoming torn between Guard and Active Duty. I just started my own business here in FL a few days ago. I'm already an insurance agent but have always worked for other agencies and now finally, for myself. Freedom Health Coverage is the name! Yeah, I know you like it.
FLHooker
I'm not sure what you have heard, but College is not required to become a WO in the US Army. I would submit it either way for the July board, if you don't get selected, then update your packet for the Sep board. If you do not submit it, I promise you won't get in. The words "currently enrolled in college full time" will do you some good, but again... not required. Packet Submission is required. Up to you. ucsspirit
Marine, Here is the deal, I am a former Marine myself, and am currently in FT Rucker. When i went to the board, my last two semesters of college, where comprised mostly of withdraws, and i think 2 passing grades. seriously. My pt scores where not the best (245). and I am here at WOCS right now, waiting until thrusday when class 09-22 starts. JUST PUT YOUR PACKET IN ALREADY, you are only hurting yourself by not doing it. I've been working on my running in the meantime.
gunn317
Yeah, I am amazed at how hard it is to get a decent run time on the APFT. It seems harder to get a decent score. Our pft you can pace yourself and you are good to go. The APFT is haul behind the entire time. I might not make it to the upcoming board. Some of my bloodwork was lost so I had to redo the bloodwork. Who knows how fast Ft. Rucker will turn it around. Hopefully it comes back pretty quick.
