AdminLB
Hey guys, I got a report from a visitor on a job ad that was placed a few days ago from an outfit called Mega Oil in Nigeria. I know it is common for identity theft scams to come out of that region in particular so I have been investigating. Here is what I know..... * They paid for the ad. * I emailed the published contact email - NO reply * I called the published number - got an "all lines are busy" message. * Hit the website megaoil.net - site us down - under construction. * Google search turns up a few vague links with nothing solid. Before I kill the ad, anyone have any solid info on the outfit or heard of them? Below is the content of the ad. Thanks - Lyn Plot 22b refinery roadwarri 09234Nigeria Contact: Micheal Pontercareers@megaoil.netPh: 2347040059781 Mega Oil-Field and Gas Limited is searching for a qualified Helicopter pilots/AP mechanics Helicopter pilots/AP mechanics Location:Offshore - Warri, Delta State Nigeria. Rick McWilliams
I have no idea if it is a scam. I have a friend who worked on offshore platforms for Chevron. She really enjoyed her time off touring Nigeria. The people are very friendly. There is some civil unrest and gunfire is common. She got used to it. She is currently working in Texas and would love to be transferred back to Nigeria.

Not sure how this could be a scam, unless they start asking you for money!! Lyn- thanks for bringing this out into the open. If its a legit company and you kill the ad....then they will call you and you wont have to chase them down. Goldy

TomPPL
This does indeed look a little suspicious. My company has dealings in Nigeria and we've had no trouble at all with our clients out there so in my experience not all Nigerian companies are bad - I'd delete the ad though as the lack of reliable contact details makes it appear dodgy. On a side note; I reside in the UK, I've worked in Nigeria and also worked in Florida I'd take the Nigerian capital Lagos over Miami any day!
