Jeff
In the POH, section 4, of the Schweizer 300 CBi, it says that after the last flight of the day, you should check the fuel boost pump while the engine is at idle by shutting off the boost pump and looking for any noticeable change in RPM. It says that this check should be done at idle. My questions are: 1. Should the rotor be engaged or disengaged? 2. Should the engine be at normal operating temperature or about 300 deg. CHT? 3. Where can I find this information myself--specifically. Thanks, ~Jeff
rodrop
Good question. I have not ever completed this task... I wonder if this is something the CFI should do. (I have been last flight of the day often but it is not on our official CBI checklist from the school).I will ask my cfi tomorrow and see what he says. Are you a student pilot? working on ppl, instrument commercial?
copter doctor
I don't have an actual POH on hand, I do have the Schweizer information manual. As I read it and this is the way we did it at the school I got my commercial rating at, you do the check with the rotor engaged and the the cht below 300 for the idle boost pump check and the step before. The step where you roll into full overide doesn't call for 300 or below. Sec. 4-14.2.d where you don't go into overide says to be below 300 and the next step is the boost pump. In my book the title for sec. 4-14 has a bold line to the right of it and so does step 3 the boost pump check. That inicates ( at least based on all my training ) that that is the newest change to the shut down procedure. I read that as step 3 was added so they added fuel boost pump to the title of the section. Hope that helps.
67november
I have a training version of the POH and do not see where in chapter 4 you're refering to, Can you specify what you are looking at?

Thanks, ~Jeff It's meant to be read chronologically, clutch should still be engaged (6 steps into 4-15 Engine Cooling Shutdown it states "Set clutch release switch in RELEASE position etc...") The CHT should "near 300* but not above" from the Idle Speed Check steps prior to the Fuel Boost Pump Check. Read 4-14 and 4-15 step by step, my C POH and my CBi Info Manual both have the same steps in the same order. Hope that was easier to understand!
