"Found a blade one street over"

Anyone ever hear of an R-44 loosing a blade in flight?

I suppose it could happen but i've never heard of it.

I find it hard to believe that 2 FAA guys would have that much trouble with a routine auto, unless it happened righ there on takeoff, which is possible, considering where it landed,

guess we'll have to wait and see.

I think the rotor flew off at impact, it's typical for media to blow things out of proportion and report what they don't know.

After watching the video a couple of times it looks like both main and tail rotor blades are still on aircraft. wonder what they found in other yard?

something similar happened at rotors a couple of years go when their 206 rolled on the ramp.. they found a piece of the main rotor almost a block away inside a shed at the fire department... it think it was a few days after the crash that they found the part.

Eyewitness said heli lost power before going down no blade failure. I was taught back in the day to always be on the look out for the safest place to land during a flight this crash should remind us the importance of this scan during a flight it could save you.

I've seen main rotor pieces fly over 1/4 mile after breaking off in a crash. One also went through a chain-link fence, an FAA van, and then hit the base ops building. There's a lot of energy in the ends of a main rotor blade.
