Only time will tell...

As many people said before on this forum. Drive or Fly to companies and introduce yourself to them. That will cost you more money but you increases your chance to get a job offer. T

he Flight instructor market gets flooded with new CFII's/CFI that enter the market every month.

As far as i can tell, a CFI is not a consideration for a flight school anymore. You need to have a CFII to be usable by the company.

SIC is one possibility but there are lots of cfiis(more than 1000hrsTT) applying at companies like Columbia, Carson...etc...just keep that in mind.

Did you try tour companies ? I know there is one in TN that hired many CFIIs with about 400 TT. They had to go to BELL SCHOOL and get their safety course in a 206L to get hired.

The course costs you about 10.000 $.

Hopefully the ECO will get better, but i don't see that to happen soon. The banks won't be the way they use to be and therefore they won't offer loans without a strong co-signer.

I think schools with international students will be ok, but they tent do hire their own guys.

I would volunteer as a pre-op groin shaver :o in the heart of Florida, if I thought it would lead to a job flying. I just don't have $11,000 with which to buy a job.

Well guys if every one knows the name of some of these tour companies I would invest 11K to go to the course and get a job ..look at this way is a pay back deal and opens the doors to the turbine world sooner than work as a CFI. So if anyone knows get me some info about that . Thank you again

Its smokey mountains helicopters / Scenic Helicopter Tours (http://www.flyscenic.com)

But Iam not sure if they will take you on with ~200hrs. As far i know they hired guys with about 400hrs+ but that does not mean the won't take you if you have gone to Bell school.

A friend of mine (~1500hrs and ~80hrs turbine) just knocked at their door an they did not know if they will need somebody soon. The pay is not great but you get a fair amount of hours in.

The Bell school is truly worth every cent you pay BUT if you look at PHI, Air-Logistic, RotorCraftLeasing RCL,Temsco....etc.

If they want you to fly turbine, THEY WILL PAY FOR THE TURBINE TRAINING because you will make money for them. Besides PHI sends their EC135 Pilots to Eurocopter School in TX and thats in the 20.000$ range...

Keep in mind guys,Once you are done with your CFII training, you already invested about 70.000$.....and you have to decide if you want to add another 11k to that

If somebody can guarantee you a job if you go to Bell school and you can't wait until somebody pays for it --> Then go for it ...but make sure you will make enough money to cover you loans and living expenses.

If you are VA approved. The GI bill will cover 60% of the BELL SCHOOL costs.

To all, being Factory trained in Make/Model is an Insurance requirement, not an employer requirement. Many Operators have the same such requirements by their Insurance companies. How many operators will allow you to fly their Turbine Equipment with low hours/experience just because you show up? Can you fly/teach in Robinsons without meeting SFAR and Insurance Reqs? Best to all, MikeMV

Watch out for tour companies or others that will have you sign a No Compete Contract.

I know a great pilot that got screwed by someone that did that. There is no need or annny operator to have you sign something like that and then tell you (should you have an opportunity to work nearby) No! You cannot fly for them! If you do I will sue you for breach of contract. You signed our " No Compete Clause". And yes, he said it in a kind of whining voice . He should never have signed that. Now the my pilot friend knows that but only after it really hurt him by denying him work. Would that be like a plumber working along at some company... a better or more satisfying job comes open in town - and you CANNOT take the job for fear of legal costs?

Jeff,

Your friend should seek the advice of an attorney. Generally it is not legally binding to keep someone from being employed in their field of experience. Just because you sign a piece of paper doesn't make it legal. There are some pretty strict requirements per the law (state dependant of course) for someone to be locked out of being able to work in their chosen field. I dealt with this all the time in the software industry. Every swinging prick of a corporate attorney or business owner thinks they can just create a document with whatever they want and it is suddenly the law. It doesn't work that way and I doubt your friend is legally barred from working for anyone, anywhere. These agreements usually only cover trade secrets and proprietary info and I highly doubt as a helicopter pilot your friend was privy to any thing of the like. This is usually a control/fear device for employers with small penises. An attorney will probably look at it and laugh.
