5000 R44's hit the streets.....or the air.

So, the 5,000th R44 is on the line at Robinson, soon to be in the air.

I was just wondering if anyone knew how many 206B's are out there?

I seem to remember it was about 7,000.....including the OH versions. So Robinson still has some catching up to do. With Bell discontinuing this model, maybe Frank can catch up in the next couple years or so.

"that's a sh*t ton of money. maybe i'll go design a helicopter and sell it ."

Hope you have a lot to start with for design & certification. Then liability/legal. Also, remember if you want to make a million in aviation, it's super easy - just start with 2 million.

"Well it wouldn't be hard to design a better one... "

Hmmm, OK then. Design a better -44 (don't forget about the performance tradeoffs), get it into production and surpass the RESPECT & popularity that Mr. R has EARNED and ACHIEVED. At that point, we can have this discussion again and I might consider buying you a rootbeer. I'm not going to say how lame your comment was, but I guess I just did. Expect the wrath of VR shortly... :D

Sooooo at $325,00.00 x 5000 = $1,625,000,000.00

that's a sh*t ton of money. maybe i'll go design a helicopter and sell it .

Of that amount, approximately $538,000,000 went to the insurance companies. It is really a shame that a bit over 30% of new aircraft purchases are insurance for the manufacturer.

Damn Lawyers.

I'm sure that in the aviation world, 30% may be an accurate number.....but Frank is much, much smarter than that.

If you look at the way he runs the company, its almost brilliant.

I fly an R44 sometimes as well. so I have to say that for what it is worth and what it was designed for, it does an amazing job. I like them. NOT the R22, but I like the R44.

No offense taken, and hey, I didn't know I was loved so much to be called sweetheart (usually, that's what the electric-psycho cattleprod wife calls out before my hourly thrashing begins... it works here too I'm seeing). But, more accurately I am:

A Friend of Mr. VR,

Defender of newbies,

Slayer of tards.

And, I don't care about being right, as long as I prove you wrong.

Love back at 'ya.
