clay
We are starting a new sensation here at Centennial airport in Denver.... out with fantasy football, in with fantasy WEATHER. It seems the weather men are never right, so we are starting a pot. for us its a $2 buy in, total snowfall through this upcoming front here in Denver. Measured at Denver International Airport. Everyone is getting on board. you should start the same at your place.
ADRidge
That's a cool idea, Clay. I have a running bet with my girlfriend on not only what day it will rain, but what time. This past weekend I was off by 2 and a half hours, which is just pitiful.
ScottL
Another weather contest would be for what the highest sustained wind is going to be on those high wind days... it's usually TAF+20kts it seems

Gomer Pylot
I'll start a pool for total snowfall measured at HOU for the year, and I get zero. BTW, what's a 'SESNATION'? Edited October 28, 2009 by Gomer Pylot
LeeRider78
To Gomer: Don't be too quick about the lack of snowfall at HOU. Remember several years ago when the coast (Galveston to Victoria) received record snowfall and areas N to NW of Conroe were still wearing shorts? I remember that day because I was traveling from Baytown to Bryan/College Station and was ahead of that weird storm. I was listening to the radio and thought "a bunch of nuts" were calling in about snow in Galveston. When I got home, I turned on the news and they were right! More than likely, though, you will probably win the "pot" with a "zero".
Gomer Pylot
Yeah, I drove home through that just before they closed the roads. Galveston got about a foot. Nothing is guaranteed, but if I have to bet, I'll still bet on zero.
clay
I'm from Houston and remember that. . . and a SESNATION is even better than a sensation....

Hedge36
Pecos, TX - January, 2007: I relocated to Odessa when the roads cleared enough to get back to I-20, and sat there for another day before continuing to Atlanta: Notes to self: 1. When the state trooper says "They're calling for ice up ahead" don't assume the guy doesn't know from ice just because you're from Alaska and he isn't. 2. Yes, dummy, it really can snow in Texas. Gomer Pylot
No, I'll stick to zero for HOU. El Paso, Pecos, and Odessa are a long, long way from there.

Hedge36
That bike is not certified for riding into known icing conditions! Feh. For the price, and given the product literature, that machine should butter my toast in the morning. Can't complain. Just hit 55,555 miles today, trouble free. That ice gig wasn't even the worst it's seen so far
