67november
If you want to get away from the "Turkey" thing, go to the standing rib roast (bone-in prime rib roast) about 4-5 pounds Coat roast with sea salt, pepper and put into a large zip bag and fill bag with cola that has been flatened (pour between containers till there is no more fizz in it) and let sit in the fridge for a day to soak in. Cook at about 275 degrees in a covered roasting pan for about 6 hours, baste the roast with the cola it was soaked in about once an hour to keep the jucies in. The internal temp on a meat thermometer should be at the rare to med/rare temp. 140-150ish degrees let the roast rest out of the oven for no less than 15 minutes BEFORE slicing it. now while the roast is cooking prep some B potatos by halving or quarting them, coat with a bit of olive oil, minced garlic, sea salt, pepper, and rosemary. roast in the oven for the last couple of hours of the prime rib roast time until fork tender. while the roast is resting, steam (not boil) some fresh asparagis spears, season with sea salt and pepper while steaming. once everything is done enjoy with your favorite red wine and soak in the accolades of a job well done

I,m not a starving CFII, my wife just doesn't cook. I had a job lined up before I started my commercial. I count my blessings daily. Happy Holidays ! Guest pokey
I'm thinking of maybe deep frying my boid this year (i thought of it last year & a few years B4 then too ). The oil is sooo expensive tho & then ya have to find a place to get rid of it,,,,, anywho, a favorite side dish for ya: mix together canned Mexican re-fried beans & canned French style green beans ( it kindda looks like dawg food but hey? who said the Mexicans & French ever got along soo well) THEN, scoop it into a 2 inch deep baking pan, crumble a thin layer of saltine quakkers on the top, then your favorite grated cheese ( i like pepper jack & cheddar mix) then put on a layer of those canned crispy fried onion rings, and a bit more cheese & quakkers here & there.
