Hi everyone. Great forum. I'm a Lt in the Air National Guard and I'm very interested in pursuing a pilot slot in the Army Guard. I'm interested in finding a unit listing by State and what airframes those units fly. I've searched around on the web and have been unable to find anything like this. I was wondering if anyone might have a list or a link to such info. I would like to start applying to different units but I just don't know what different States have to offer. I've tried searching the Guard websites of several States but the info has been hit or miss at best. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Sir,

I don't have an answer for you, but was curious if you'd considered flying the Pavehawk or other helo for the Air National Guard...is that even an option?

Thanks for the reply. I have considered that option but unfortunately Air Guard helo slots are extremely limited. I want to stay in the Guard and I feel as if my best bet at this point would be to pursue a slot with the Army Guard.

Washington State guard have OH-58 A-C, UH-60, CH-47, and C-12 and C-23 for fixed wing. Should be under 66th TAC. Hope this helps. http://66tac.washingtonarmyguard.org/

This is totally off-topic and I apologize for derailing the thread, but helijay I notice you're from University Place? I'm from Federal Way! Are you a CFI at Everett?

Thanks everyone for the replies. Does anyone happen to know what the Kentucky and Tennessee Army Guard fly on both the helo and fixed wing side and where those units might be located in those states? I'd like to land a spot in that part of the country but will obviously take a slot wherever I can get one. I'm originally from southern Indiana so a slot in any of those states would be great and would allow me to be closer to family. I know that Indiana has Blackhawks and I believe C-23 and C-12's. One last question...is the C-27 off the table now for the Army Guard? Thanks for the help folks.

Guard Lt,

Have you even tried to fly for your current unit? Many including myself are trying to go from active duty Army to Air guard units. For Indiana, check the 2-238th, who have both 60's and 47's.

C-27J is only going to Air Guard.

Sorry for the delay. I've tried the Air Guard route but I'm working against the Air Force age limit for UPT. I'm 30 approaching 31. I've always felt more of a passion to fly helicopters than airplanes. I figured flying in the Army Guard would allow me to do that plus continue as a Guardsmen. Thanks for the replies.

Guard LT,

I hate to say it, but the Army is working on bringing the age down to 29, in fact... my state of NY, is already at that. We will not board anyone who is over 29, even though it has not been signed into law yet. So, act fast if you are going to do anything.
