Not a bad idea. We tell people to always take a cell phone hiking. Even if there is no cell service you can see the lcd screen from 2 miles away on NVG's on most nights. Using the flash is just another great tool to use! Hopefully they don't choose to use it when you are 200 feet out! BTW- Speaking of rescues, if you ever want to see some cool helmet cam actual helicopter rescues just type in "LASD Air Rescue 5" into youtube. V18 is a pretty cool cliffhangar. They are all real, and updated just a day or so after each rescue. Quote

A decent LCD flashlight would be more useful, and I try to have one with me all the time. Having a steady flash capability on it helps, too. Quote
