AdminLB Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 I am always amazed by the depth of experience and knowledge of our visitors......no matter how obscure I am, people figure it out. I hit two different countries this week. Which country am I in in these pics? Herb & Spices.......local market. Every form of livestock hangs out on the streets with the rest of us. Common fox for the area. A certain Indian civilization ruled this place from 200 BC to 900 AD. WHERE AM I? Quote
JDHelicopterPilot Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 GUATEMALA! Near Tikal? If not, it's either Mexico or Belize and I hope you didn't risk your life going to Mexico. Belize is nice though. Quote

JDHelicopterPilot Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 Goldy, I've been to Guatemala nine times. Never to Tikal. That is next on the list. You are right, need to be careful there too. I always travel out of the city with "bodyguards". Quote
helistar Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 BELIKIN Beer. “The Beer of Belize”, and in fact there's a $500 fine for getting caught with cheap Mexican beer there... Quote

JDHelicopterPilot Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 I thought so. I've been eyeing that place for a while now. How was it? I've been to Guatemala many times, both coasts and everything inbetween except two places. Tikal is one of them. Quote
hooked4life Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 So, Belize and Guatemala? Looks like a pretty cool trip to take... were you down there for work or vacation? Quote
AdminLB Posted November 22, 2010 Author Posted November 22, 2010 JD,We loved both countries. Guatemala is much prettier in my opinion. Tikal was amazing and interesting from both an architectural and historical standpoint. I have also been to Machu Piccu in Peru and have spent time in the Amazon so I would not say that Belize, Guatemala, and Tikal compared to that in an equal sense, but awesome non-the-less. Hooked,I was on vacation. My wife and I have a thing for third world, being in the culture, and off the beaten path wild adventures. Quote
