Goldy Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 So tonight the El Monte PD ship, an R44, encountered a couple pigeons which took out the front windscreen. They made an emergency landing, I think it was the co-pilot that had some minor injuries due to the birds, all else ok. Quote
lelebebbel Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 out of curiosity - i assume they were wearing helmets. Visors down? I knew that a raven or anything larger would go through a robinson windscreen, but I'm surprised something as small as a pigeon would. Quote
arotrhd Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 The pigeons are a pretty well fed bunch in the Covina & Baldwin Park region based on the size of their crap that hits the truck windshield and roof at the intersections (personal experience). EMPD crews generally wear helmets while airborne, but whether visors were extended is a good question. Bet they are now.I hate pigeons. Stupid, flea-on-a-tick infested pieces of... -WATCH FOR THE PATTERNS, WATCH FOR THE WIRES- Quote
