ben448 Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 Ladies/Gentlemen, I'm currently a MS3 in AROTC and looking at trying to branch aviation. My big road block is my eye sight which is ~ -6.00 in both eyes. I'm planning on getting PRK surgery over winter break, but have yet to find a definitive current standard on the time the ARMY Flight physical requires after the surgery (I have heard anything from 90 days to 6 months). I will be getting the Physical at LDAC over the summer and was wondering if anyone knew the current standards in terms of eye surgery for the ARMY? Also would I need to secure a waiver? Thank you for your help. Quote
akscott60 Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 I got my eyes zapped with PRK in May of 09. I waited 3 months to go to MEPS to process, and then had to wait a full six for my flight physical. MEPS required a waiver to process me since it had been less than six months. That waiver took 24 hours to get approved. It was really stupid. Read up on the pre surgery vision requirements before you go ahead with it. I know the Army has a couple of requirements. Good luck.
