I've never seen where nomex protected from a birdstrike. I've seen where birds strike the chin bubble, so they don't instinctively know to aim for the pilot's helmet. Quote

I had one come through the chin bubble and Plexi flew everywhere. Quote

I believe a pilot should be able to wear a helmet if that is what you want. Fire proof clothing is a good idea too, but I will wear pants and a long sleeve shirt thank you very much. Nomex good, flight suit... not for me. Quote
