Goldy Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 Two weeks ago I posted my first full down auto in the new R66. I got almost 1500 hits in two weeks! Wow, that encouraged me to post this one....my first R66 hover auto. I figure anyone could post perfect videos after your 3rd or 4th try at one....but I give you all my "first" experience to see how it feels! You can see the nose swing left as the throttle is rolled off on me...then its some pedal correction and a bit of collective and we are on the ground...laughing at my perfect, yet late, correction! Since Doug is also our local DPE I had to ask...would that pass a checkride? Oh sure, he says...you fixed it before we hit the ground! Enjoy. Quote
arotrhd Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 Um, was that all? Are you sure that was in a Robbie? Good Lord, you have time to pick your nose twice AND study the noseminer nuggets before making a move. 'Ell, you prolly spent more time waiting to pull collective than it took you to post this on Youtube... -WATCH FOR THE PATTERNS, WATCH FOR THE WIRES- Quote
MileHi480B Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 Forgive me if everyone else on the forum knows this answer ... but I am very curious ... GOLDY ... Who are you? I mean why do you get to fly the R66? Before public consumption? Are you connected to Robinson some how? Are you an aviation writer? What's the story? First a full auto and now a hover auto? Just wondering. Quote
arotrhd Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 Ever seen The Most Interesting Man in the World (Dos Equis) on TV? They based him on Goldy. Chuck Norris pales in comparison to Goldy's accomplishments: (Ripped from Wiki) Some examples include: * "If he were to punch you in the face you would have to fight off the strong desire to thank him"* "He is the life of parties he never attended."* "His blood smells like cologne."* "Bulls flat out refuse to fight him."* "He once had an awkward moment, just to see how it felt."* "His business card simply says 'I'll call you.'"* "People hang on his every word, even the prepositions." * On Life: "It's never too early to start beefing up your obituary."* On Manscaping: "I have no idea what this is."* On Wingmen: "It doesn't take more than one man to talk to a woman."* On the Two-Party System: "The after-party is the one you want to attend."* On Rollerblading: "No."* On Careers: "Find out what it is in life that you do not do well, and then don't do that thing." -WATCH FOR THE PATTERNS, WATCH FOR THE WIRES- Quote

Goldy Posted February 23, 2011 Author Posted February 23, 2011 (edited) great stuff arotrhd great auto Goldy! Geez guys you make me feel like I'm six foot five inches tall !! Personally I thought the hover auto was a bit weak. But the whole idea is to show you what my first instinct was, and just how much time I had to fix it. Trust me, it felt even longer than it appears. Now as far as 480B's comments. I've said it before that I do so many cool things, that if I didnt have pictures to back them all up, no one would ever believe me! Forums are all about secret identities and not the real world. I do pretty poor in that respect. Just look up Rotorcraft Pro Magazine, online or hard print and read any of the last R66 articles.....all written by yours truly. If you somehow miss the full spread centerfold in this months magazine, well, you've missed it! Note to Robinson Helicopter HR Manager- I am available for a position, I simply require 150K annual salary, and a helicopter to fly to work. I'll even take a Raven II. Oh, one more. "When I do an auto, I don't have to roll off the throttle, I simply have to speak and the turbine quiets itself". Fly safe, Goldy Edited February 23, 2011 by Goldy Quote

SBuzzkill Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 I just watched the video again and saw you move the camera a little bit at the beginning. I thought it was on a mount this whole time, you have a steady hand! Quote

I thought it was on a mount this whole time, you have a steady hand! Nope, the bunny man was in the back hanging on the whole time. How he sits in back (knowing how much better he could be flying)I'll never know. Mike is a good friend and an awesome CFII.
