txflyer Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 What was the final call on this?? The net? I thought they just ended up missing a tiedown... Quote
beckwith Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 It looks like the chopper gets thrown up by the motion of the deck and catches his front part of the right skid on the hard point then smacks the tail. The net actually looks like it preformed fairly well in it's anti-skid function to me (not an expert). Quote
Eric Hunt Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 You can see, during the first part of the video, that the aircraft is rocking forward on its skids each time the boat pitches - perhaps the pilot was carrying too much collective while on the ground. Then it finally gets thrown forward, the pilot pulls back, kills the tail rotor and spins. Rolls off the throttle and catches the net, exactly as designed. The ground crew were very lucky. Quote
