Well, I got my CDL yesterday! I start work at Colonial on Monday, and the saving shall begin! I plan on saving everything I can over the next 1 1/2 years to 2 years then having the money I need to get all of my helicopter ratings. I am very excited about all of this. I am single and no kids, so I should really be able to enjoy all of the travel I will be doing the next couple years. This really seems to be an excellent way to save up some money to me. I plan on trying to stop by a lot of helicopter operations during this time, I will be mostly running to California from Tennessee, so I am sure I will get to stop by quite a few operators. If anyone has any questions, comments or advice for me please let me know!

P.S. I just switched my bank over to USAA bank, I think this was one of my best moves yet. I LOVE this bank so far lol!!!!

Ditto on USAA, good luck out there and be safe.

Dont forget all the travel you may have to do AFTER you get your ratings and you need a job!

Be sure to give us SoCal folks a call when you are on the west coast.

And Northern Utah folks too. I have a room, food, a shared passion, and a great neighbor that owns his own trucking company...guaranteed you have someone to share conversation with. Only stipulations are, you must have integrity, and be tollerant of friends having a beer together... Well, Ok just integrity, We respect people who prefer to avoid the casual drinking scene.

Hey, thanks for the offer! I will take you up on that in the future! Nothing better than a cold beer, and talking about aviation(hangar talk). What is the name of your neighbors trucking company? I am really excited about everything right now, seems like things are lining up for me, I just have to work for it and I am fine with that.

@goldy

I will be in L.A. probably every week, so I will let you know when I have my time off out there(its called a 34 hour reset) and would love to meet everyone out there! I plan on saving up an extra cushion of money so that I can go "job hunting" after flight training. I know it will be a couple years, but I am still very excited about everything!

Thanks for the replies everyone! I will keep everyone updated on what is going on and how things are going. Does anyone know of a good website to start my own blog on? I would like to make one and post pictures and stories on it.

Thanks,

Matt
