r22butters Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Can you fly a helicopter(other than a Robbie)from the left seat, using the Collective on the right? A guy on the other forum posted he has a fused left wrist, and it got me wondering? Quote
DynamicallyUnstable Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Tried it in the SIM once. Not impossible but not easy to adjust to. Probably wouldn't be an issue if that was the only way you ever flew...Wouldn't do anything for a career though. Quote

HeliJet Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 If a pilot has a Hand/Wrist/Arm or other medical issue, it usually boils down to what the FAA calls demonstrated ability. If his fingers can adequately manipulate the throttle and arm the collective, he probably doesn't have an issue and doesn't even need a waiver as long as he can perform all the required tasks for the equipment he is flying. Good luck to him, BK Quote
adam32 Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Joe Soloy flying left seat using right collective..... I wonder if he was doing it that way just on start up or actually flying too? Quote
