I'm currently writing a story in which the main character needs to operate a helicopter obtained from the Air Force or Border Patrol, my questions are: which helicopter is the easiest to fly, and secondly, how many hours of training would a civilian pilot need in order to fly the chopper from one location to the next in an emergency? He will have some assistance from the pilot who has been seriously injured and cannot operate the controls, and fades into and out of consciousness? He just needs to get the helo from one location to the next.

Like the man said, ain't gonna happen. Typical outcome of the attempt, longer flight than some-

(P.S. That's a very good and predictable trainer that guy crashes.

Try the MD500(that's the Magnum P.I. looking one)they're pretty easy to fly.

Just say that your character has at least soloed once, or he could be like Barney from the Simpsons, who cried out, "...easy Homer, I haven't learned right turns yet!".

Is this civilian pilot a helicopter pilot or an airplane pilot? IF he's a civilian chopper pilot he could jump into plenty of military ships and off they go. If he's an airplane pilot, well, they wouldnt last long.

What about the other way around? I think most helicopter pilots could fly an airplane. It really aint that hard.
