GJG Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 I'm looking to retire from the Army in about two years and wanted to get back into flying helicopters in my next career. I have a little over 1800 hours total time with about 350 hours of that being NVG and night unaided time. I also have 150 hours of UH-60 MTP time. Other than flight school, all my flight experience is with MEDEVAC mission. Unfortunately, when I retire I will have been out of the cockput for about 3 years...currently flying a desk. My plan is to use my GI Bill to fund training to get current and get my instrument ticket up to date. Will being out of flying for three years will kill my chances of getting a helicopter pilot job? And, what can I do over the next three years to set myself up for success? Quote
