nicepants
I'm reading more about the WOFT process and thinking about it. I have no doubt I could pass all the requirements, except I'm concerned about one. When I got my FAA Physical I couldn't read the numbers in the color dots test. (I never could as far back as grade school) I can see different colors just fine, can tell the difference between red & green, etc. I can see that the dots are different colors, the numbers just don't "pop out" for me. I know for civilian purposes I can do a light gun test to make me just as qualified as other pilots, but would failing the numbers in the circles test disqualify me from WOFT? NorCalHeliKid
If you can see the number and read it off correctly, then you aren't color blind enough to be DQ'ed. If you cant read them, then you can memorize the test.

NorCalHeliKid
Are the color/number plates the only option or are there other test methods used? I would call a Flight Surgeon in Aviation Med and ask them if there are alternates for the Initial Entry Flight Phys. I really dont know. bmather9
Are the color/number plates the only option or are there other test methods used? Another test that is accepted by the Army is call the FALANT (short for Farnsworth Lantern). If you fail the plates with numbers but pass this you're still good. It's generally considered easier than the plates, but also harder to find to get tested on. If you have more questions let me know, I've been through the thick part of color vision and military aviation. Good Luck!
