Any suggestions on some good helicopter shows/movies? Airwolf is cool and all but I want to see some in depth documentaries. I've googled around and haven't had the best luck. Any suggestions? :)

Well, it's not a documentary, but if you haven't seen Blue Thunder you should rent it!

Straight Up: Helicopters in Action (DVD, 2003)

Acclaimed actor Martin Sheen narrates this high-flying adventure documentary present in the IMAX film format. STRAIGHT UP follows real life of the many helicopter crews and the underrated roles they play in everyday society. Included are segments on drug busts, reconnaissance missions, humanitarian aid, and electrical high voltage repair.

Not a documentary

"Birds of Prey" from the 70's

History channel had the best documentary I've seen.

Birds of Prey rocked, some wicked flying in it, love the SA-315B lama chase.

you can find it on netflix, in fact we have cued to be sent out next.

There was a really cool show for a season on TRU-TV called Maui chopper which featured MD-500s making rescue and fire missions on the "big island" you can find a DVD of the season on Amazon I believe.

Swiss National Television produced a couple years ago a multy-part documentary about Air Zermatt in Switzerland.

This is a very cool documentary, they made a summer series and a winter series.

The Show is in German and Swiss German Dialect, so that' won't help many of you, but the visuals are stunning.

Both series have been broken in bits and pieces so it fits on youtube. Here is a link to the first one:

You will see that the same poster on youTube who put that clip up, put all the others up as well.

check it out.

I was sort of disappointed with Straight Up: Helicopters in Action. It was cheesy/discovery channel-ish!

I thought the video quality was good. It was pretty short though, and I thought it would be better if it went into more detail.
