Helipilot_89
I have a job interview coming up for a CFII job back east. I am just wondering if anyone has any tips or info and making the best of this interview. Any input would be appreciated! Thanks

Gomer Pylot
It should be about the same for any job. Dress appropriately, be on time, know something about the company, know what you're talking about but don't talk more than is necessary.
Spike
My few offerings….. Bring your logbook, a current copy of your resume, medical certificate and licenses including your driver’s license. Some like to bring a DMV printout to prove no major driving issues. Over dress. Dockers, coat and tie at minimum. No fad gadgets…Be on time. If you’re heading to an unfamiliar location, scout it out the day before so you know exactly where you’re going.Be yourself. People aren’t dumb and can spot a phony a mile away. Relax and have fun. Excitement is contagious so if you’re excited to be there, they may be excited to have you around.Think before you speak. Be very cognizant about what you say, how you say it and whom you say it to. Always remain completely honest. When you meet someone, look them in the eye when you shake their hand and when you shake, grab the whole hand firmly. Thumb-web-to-thumb-web.During the interview, sit up straight on your coat tail at the edge of the chair (don’t use the back rest) and look at the interviewer when conversing. Try not to talk with your hands. Just like a check-ride, understand the question before you answer it. If you need to, have the interviewer repeat the question. Smile. Be confident but not cocky.Remember, attitude is everything. If you get to fly, cool.. This is the easy part as you are a CFII and have already proven you have the ability. However, you need to prove you can give good cockpit in order to separate yourself from the others. “Good cockpit” is the ability to communicate a message in an enjoyable manner. Or better said, it should be fun!! Be available. If the interviewer asks “can you start today?”, the answer should be a resounding YES!The goal is to provide SAFE quality flight instruction to the customers so they return for additional flights and hopefully recommend the school to others… Good luck…
