This is mainly for my fellow northern Minnesota members, but I got word a little bit ago from a Cass County SO friend of a heli down in Ten Mile Lake north of Brainerd. No further details and I can't find anything online. Anyone have any information?

Well, glad to see it's not you Falko. You were my first thought, now if we could only find out who it might have been or from where.

Unfortunately this was a private R44 aircraft owner based out of Walker, MN. This person learned to fly helicopters back in the mid 90's at HFI Helicopter Flight Incorporated which use to be based at the Crystal airport KMIC and they went out of business a few years after 9/11.

This was a very tragic accident in our small helicopter community here in MN. John worked hard on being a very proficient pilot. He also kept up on all service needs as required on his Robbie and was even anal about only one brand of oil was ever used. I suspect that this may be a mechanical related issue. Hopefully more information will become available from the passenger and the NTSB accident report. This was a huge loss regardless of it being a forum member or not!
