Oh, thats a new one. Kinda sounds like you got yourself into a pickle.

Are you afraid you would fail the test?

No i did the test already because he originally said that was all i needed to do. Passed it with flying colors. And now hes saying i need more proof that isnt there to give. I already offered a letter from my mom and he refused and said it needs to be something from my file which is no longer in existance. It seems to me like its a minor hiccup that was blown way up so they could have yet another excuse to not process me. Theres something more to this than im aware of but it is obvious that theres something there cause this doesnt make sense to me at all.

So do i change to a new recruiter and station in another city under a different co or do i play the game at the one im at and see what happens?

As for your lors, if you are going from civilian to woft there isnt any kind of requirement for rank or mos to be for your letters however the higher the rank or civilian affiliation the better obviously. A letter from a tech sgt in the air force who knows you is better for you than your bag boy manager at the grocery store you work at. Doesn't have to be any aviators unless you are in now and transitioning to woft. Then you should follow the warrant officer website guidelines.

Even if i had my pediatric med file right in front of him there wouldnt be anything in there regarding asthma cause i never had it or anything close to it. And thats what he wants.

Which would prove your point...

Is there any objective evidence to show him that your med file does not exist and then ask what would it take to prove that you made a mistake. No one is infallible.

I am having a hard time believing the entire battalion is going to shun you because of a mistake on a form. Seems like there is an underlying issue that is causing them to act this way. Find out what that is, fix it and they may be willing to work with you on this issue.

Im not sure how to prove that my file doesnt exist anymore. Ive asked him several times how to prove i dont have asthma and never had it and its the same answer over and over from him. My file documents. That leads me back to the rock anf hard place where i sit now which is causing me to think they are trying to get out of my packet process again like the first recruiting station did, which was under the same co as the one im at now...

would switching recruiting stations and commands be in order here? it seems like all arrows are pointing that way... If I do should I tell the new station about the previous two stations or just start from scratch like I walked in for the first time...

Good point... I wonder if all recruiters have a system of people they can look up to see info about if they havr been to another recruiter before or something...

Is this the recruiters telling you they won't process your application or a doctor at MEPS? If it's the recruiters, politely tell them your medical history is none of their business. If that doesn't work, tell them not so politely it's none of their business. The doctors at MEPS are the only ones qualified to determine your medical condition.

I put on my medical pre-screen that I had childhood asthma and had an inhaler from age 12-14 (which would disqual me from enlistment). handed it to the first sgt of the office. he said are you sure this is what you had? I said no, let me call my mom to verify. i stepped out and called her, come to find out it wasnt asthma at all it was allergies and a nasal inhaler for allergies. went back inside and told them the truth. he said that because I put it down he has to go by it and required me to get a methacholine challenge test to prove I dont have it stating that was all i had to do to prove to him that i was telling the truth... i picked up the medical form i originally handed him and left the office to try and hunt down my med record. spent the last 3 days looking for it and finding out that it doesnt exist anymore. I also did the test and passed it. now he's saying the he wants something from my medical file that states something about my asthma. I retold him that I dont have asthma and never had it and there's nothing there to give him... he says according to his CO that until he gets something else they wont process me to even go to meps or anything else... I'd love nothing more than to go to meps and tell the doctors the truth about my history because there's nothing there that will stand out but I'm having a hard time trying to get the 1st sgt to send me there.

long story short its the first sgt and his CO telling me all this and not the meps doctors and they no longer have the form that has the mistake on it.

Ask the recruiter if he or his CO is a doctor. If not tell them to put you in front of the doctor whose job it is to determine whether applicants are medically qualified to join the Army. If they still say no ask for the battalion commander's phone number so you can ask him why his recruiters are conducting medical evaluations that they're not qualified for.

No response back yet from them. I sent them a signed letter from my mom stating there's no medical history regarding asthma. Im looking at doing the guard route instead at this point... Anyone in here join up to the guard enlisted and submit from there?

When I enlisted 8 years ago my recruiter gave me this advice. If you "think or heard" you "may" have a problem, you don't. When enlisting answering No means Numerous Opertunities, while answering Yes means Your Enlistment Stops. I am not endorsing this or saying it is correct, it was just what I was told.

Yamer, I'm a guard guy also

Well guys and lindsey, the decision has been made... Im joining the army guard as an e3, as either a 15t 15r or 15y. Arizona uses the 15r as apache mechanic for all models including longbow. Ill then submit my packet from there when the time comes either through guard or conditional release to active duty prior service to seat... I figured enough is enough. Im waisting time goofing around with stupid recruiting stations and might as well join up so i can use some tuition assistance to finish whatever have left of my associates degree after applying the basic and ait credit, which wont be much, im halfway there already. Dont know the job for sure yet but those are my three picks and looking at oathing mid september this year at the soonest, after our family trip to minn the first week in sept.

Congrats. All the Arizona people I know from flight school are super cool. Just work hard and keep at it. You'll get into the unit.

Thanks Idaho,

I am aiming for the 2nd battalion 285th in pheonix at the Papago AHP as a 15T. My CW2 friend is a maintenance chief up there for delta company too so that'll be cool having a friendly face around to point me in the right direction.

quick update... I've decided that the guard is what's best for not only my chances of getting to WOFT but for the family as well.. so AZ ARMY GUARD here I come...

I have an awesome recruiter at the 1st 285th who is a friend of my CW2 friend. he is actively looking for my job choice, 15T. I decided to go with that MOS because should for some god awefull reason i never get to WOFT, the 15T affords me a better enlisted chance of flying as a crew chief. hopefully i wont have to worry about that though.

As soon as its avail, i'll go to meps for the phys and contract. then basic and AIT at eustis. once i get back it's gonna be me spending every possible waking moment there learning as much as I can in order to get that packet completed and submitted as soon as I'm able.

lol i guess my update is the same as before, I'm just still waiting for the 15T to open up somewhere. now that my family trip is completed next major task is meps then basic...

Well Yamer just so you know your MOS has zero to do with getting selected for WOFT. That's directly out of the mouth of the CW5 that wrote my LOR who used to sit on the board. If you want to be a 15T just to work with the Blackhawks until you get selected then great. But don't think its something you have to do in order to better your chances at selection. The only advantage would be gaining some personal experience with army aviation and being around Warrant Officers who can give you an LOR.

Understood and was already aware thanks to this site. My interests are either hawks or apaches both in my enlisted career and to eventually fly them. Lakotas too but according to my state 15Ts are the ones working on lakotas after factory schooling. I will be picking either of those mos's to gain airframe knowledge that might help me out in the future as a pilot.

Plus im more of a mechanical kinda guy so it fits for me instead of a desk type job or others out there
