superstallion6113 Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 (edited) Had my first cross country solo today from Prescott to Seligman! 110 miles round trip, and it was a blast, and a huge confidence builder. Looking forward to my next cross country solo to two airports and back next week, have my FAA private rotorcraft test this week, then my stage 3 check and FAA check ride next month. I'm loving flying helicopters more than I did fixing them for the last 10 years! Up to 42 hrs now. Couldn't be doing this without my Post 9/11 GI Bill. My only advice to you is to keep on studying for the FAA test, if you put the time into studying the test will be a breeze. Good luck on your next cross country flight! Quote
jim_222 Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Congratulations, first of all! Definitely the xc solo is one of the major "I am a pilot" milestones, at least until the next one comes... As was the first solo pick up, which makes you think, "oh, I am a pilot"!!! And then you go on your first solo pattern, and that has you thinking "screw the solo hover, that was nothing, it is NOW that I AM a pilot"... And then airport to airport... And then XC solo... Which I think is one of the biggest ones, because it, quite literally, takes you to new places! Congratulations again, on a job well done, and good luck with the rest of the adventure! Also, take your time on it. I took my written a couple weeks ago and only missed one question. And that was due to me getting ahead of myself. As soon as they showed me which question I missed I knew exactly what the answer was, and how I messed it up. Have fun on those man. And make sure you get on the right frequency before you start making your position reports. My first XC solo, first position report... went to FSS. Then I told them to "disregard, apparently a monkey is occupying Helicopter 223G right now... Have a good day!" Oops! Quote
