rotorhead86 Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Looking to move to Phoenix AZ area with my wife for her job. Just curious if anyone has suggestions on good places to work there, or any advice on the area. Any info is greatly appreciated! I have about 1200 hrs right now, and will have more by the time we get there. 135, photo, film, tour, and flight instruction experience. About 50 hrs turbine time. 1 Quote
Azhigher Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Can try some off the flight schools around there. Nothing else comes to mind in that area. Quote

Nolapilot89 Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 I've been considering moving back to Phoenix. Best thing I've found is to just go offshore and commute. I've been offshore for a few months now. Only other way I've known people to work in Phoenix are EMS pilots or people commuting from the ditch/Vegas. I'm over 2000hrs now and been keeping an eye out on occasion out that way... Quote
pilot#476398 Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 I can't believe this has 150 views and only one reply...? Crazy. That's because we're all probably thinking the same thing? With only 1200 hours your best bet is most likely the Grand Canyon,...hope you like commuting! Quote

With only 1200 hours your best bet is most likely the Grand Canyon,...hope you like commuting! Yep what he said. The south rim is your closest bet. Should be about a 4-5 hour drive. Week on week off, flying 206's hot, heavy and high. You will get some good experience! Quote
rotorhead86 Posted February 19, 2013 Author Posted February 19, 2013 I appreciate the advice. I've been calling around and that seems to be only option aside from instructing, which I'm really not interested in at this point... Quote
Little Bird Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 Rotorhead86, how did your search go? Are you touring out of the Canyon? Or elsewhere?I'm making the move to Tucson late this year and thinking of options...Hope something worked out in any case. Quote
Pohi Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 I live in Phoenix and commute to the GOM. Not too horrible of a situation. Quote
helonorth Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Except I live in Phoenix and commute to the GOM. Not too horrible of a situation.Except for the GOM part... Quote
Rotorhead84 Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 A steady, well paying, enjoyable helicopter job near the location you want to live? That's a good joke. Quote
Pohi Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Except Except for the GOM part...I guess that's one way too look at it. Another would be that the GOM is a good paying helicopter job that flies a lot. I enjoy the exceptional maintenance, reliable paychecks, and busy days. It works just fine for me. 2 Quote
Little Bird Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Does anyone commute out of Sedona? Or do those companies work more of a regular schedule? Quote
rotormandan Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Except Except for the GOM part...Depends on your point of view. I commute from WA to the gom. There are some local ems jobs in my area, closest is 2hrs away. I have no interest. If I'm going to commute, I'd rather fly in the gulf. There are a few utility jobs near home too but even commuting all the way to LA I'm home more often. Everyone's boat floats differently. As long as it floats I guess. 1 Quote
Pohi Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 I just saw a 206B and a R44 doing training north of deer valley yesterday in the desert. I haven't been out in the dirt that much lately so I'm not sure if it's a normal thing. Quote
