Good afternoon all.

Long time lurker, first time poster. I'd like to first thank all the people on here who have already taken the time to answer questions ( especially on the SIFT, helped me blow it out of the water!)

USMC active duty Huey Crew Chief here looking for some clarification. As an active duty Marine, do I need to attend a Battalion Board? My recruiter isn't sure, but the station commander is under the impression that I do. From what I've read, I think not, however I haven't been able to find it in writing on the USAREC site.

Secondly, my flight physical does not have to be done by an Army doctor, correct? If I have my flight surgeon (U.S. Navy) fill out the form (it is the same between branches) and sign it, I can send that to Rucker?

Finally, how do I go about getting a copy of my SIFT score? After taking the test I asked if I would receive a memo. They assured me that there was nothing to take home and that I would be emailed it. Well, as I figured would happen, I never got an email. The SIFT FAQ states that I need a letter signed by the Test Control Officer to have my score validated for my package. Does anyone have experience with this situation?

Sorry about the long and boring first post. Thank you in advance for the help.

im no help but welcome! if i had to guess at what ive heard here before, being a marine, you are going to do the entire process just as a civilian would do however your packet will include a release or dd214 from the corps

Related to your SIFT question, my administrar sent me home with a signed copy and emailed me a digital version as well. I would contact the administrar of your test and have him/her scan you a signed copy of your results.

This is kind of what I expected. San Diego MEPS has been a nightmare through this whole process. Guess I'll be on the phone again Monday morning haha.

Your recruiter should be able to get a copy of your SIFT score. Regarding the flight physical question, I have tried to play that card multiple times. I am an SMCR CH-46 Crewchief. I have been told in no uncertain terms that I have to do a flight physical with the Army. Truth be told though, I haven't been able to verify with Ft. Rucker. Welcome and Good Luck.

Nice to see another Crew Chief around here. My recruiter told me he would be able to get my score, but on the SIFT FAQ it says I need a signed copy from the Test Control Officer, which I would imagine would be what gets included in my packet. I'll probably just have to get MEPS to fax it to me.

As for the flight physical, I don't know why I wouldn't be able to have our Doc do it for me. I would understand the Army wanting to do it if it was approved at the Flight Surgeon level, but I figured the reason we had to send it to Ft. Rucker was to get final approval by the Army. I may try to give Ft. Rucker's Flight Medicine a call on Monday.

Do you know if we have to do the Battalion Board or is that only for 'actual' Civilian applicants?

I am an active duty U.S. Marine who just completed the application process and will be on the May board. For the flight physical, you can get it done at any Navy aeromedical clinic, HOWEVER!!! you MUST contact Fort Rucker and have Fort Rucker send your Navy aeromedical clinic all of the additional requirements that the Army requires for your flight physical. The Army required a few additional eye tests, different measurements, etc. You need to be in contact with both Rucker and your clinic, otherwise it will never get done and certainly never get approved. Furthermore, once your flight physical is completed by your Navy aeromedical clinic, there are two ways to get the physical to Rucker, either fax it yourself or have the Navy aeromedical clinic send an Arrow message (they will know what this is). The Arrow message will have the flight physical approved within 72 hours as long as there are no issues- faxing it can take up to three weeks. Rucker will send back a copy of page 1 with their stamp on it and this is what you include in your package. My physical was sent via an Arrow message by my flight doc on a Monday and I had my stamp back within 24 hours.

Second, why on earth are you going through a recruiter? You are active duty, recruiters have nothing to do with you and subsequently cannot help you with the process, they do not submit your package, you do not get boarded by anyone in any recruiting battalion, you have NOTHING to do with a recruiter, and they are not even permitted to submit your package. You get everything done yourself and then you e-mail it all to the e-mail address on the USAREC website! That is it my friend. You need to get the original versions of ALL paperwork that your recruiter has done for you and start completing the process the correct way- all the information is on the USAREC website and if you have any questions then call USAREC directly, stop messing around with a recruiter.

You should have gotten a letter from the place where you took the SIFT, if you did not then you need to call them directly and demand one. No other way.

Read my post above. What you have been told is incorrect and I am proof of it.

FOR ALL MARINES OR SAILORS THAT ARE TRYING TO GET A FLIGHT PHYSICAL DONE FOR WOFT- If you go to the MCAS New River Naval Aeromedical Clinic, they have successfully completed Army flight physicals for TWO Marines who have applied to WOFT and they know the drill and what is going on. PM me and I will give you the POC at the clinic who is in direct contact with Rucker and knows everything that needs to be done.

Not true. If you are in any active duty component of any military branch, then you will be on an active duty board and apply no differently than an active duty enlisted Army soldier. You just include a DD368 in your package.

As i've read, the battalion board is for civilians only. Thank you jag32 for some clarification on the active duty process.
