Can I request to go back through basic training for a new initial issue? This sh*t is getting expensive. I just bought another two sets of ACUs for WOCS.

I have a pickle suit, some ABDUs, A2CUs and a pile of BDUs. I hope my kids are going to be big into hunting...Not that the ACUs would be useful for that.

I don't see anything wrong with Multicam which we've already bought tons of for those deploying over the past couple years.

Argue for digital all you want but my eyes say multicam is amazing. It gets downright dangerous driving around with dudes walking around in multicam.

I agree, I am a fan of the multicam

So it looks a lot like the Marines current digitals, except the color scheme is different. I mean I know there are small design changes, but it's essentially just tweaking something else.

Nothing wrong with that. Looking like the Marines, that is . . .

I'll agree with that. My girl is always telling me how Marines have the "hottest" uniforms (and that was a quoted term). Although when it comes to BDUs, ACUs, whatever... I'm kind of indifferent. Just give me the one piece pickle flight suits back.

Yeah, I love my flight suits. Once you break them in, they feel like silk. And, I am able to wear my wings (leather name patch). Which I am not sure Army Aircrews are able to do. Don't quite understand that one.

We are allowed to sew on our wings now to the A2CU's so at least now we can have something on our uniform that identifies air crew. A lot of guys are wearing those ACU 2x3 patches on their left shoulder pocket that basically has all the same info as the leather tags but it is in ACU fabric stitched with black thread.

I personally don't wear anything.

Campbell forbids the PC/troop patch. No surprise there.

I rock jack sh*t. CW2 in A2CUs is telling enough.

Yeah I was pretty tame on "flair" as well. Nothing on the front. Helmet had a unit patch and flag on the back. No fancy paint, smart ass patches, or "Ninja Turtle" mask.

I got out of the Marines right before the mandatory date for the MARPATs and got out of the Army on the day black berets were donned for the first time and before the ACUs When I got out of the Marines and went in to the Army, my cammies just carried over because we all wore the same thing. My 1st Sgt told me my globe and anchor stamp on my pocket was completely authorized and to wear it with pride. So for 4 years, I wore US ARMY name tapes with an EGA stamp on my left pocket :) Nobody ever said a thing about it. (infantry)

Edit: I should clarify.... Army Reserve Infantry. Probably would have never flown on active. And yes for you new guys... the Army Reserves used to have infantry!!

I wish the army still allowed its aviator to wear the pickle suit.

The flight suit is probably the most comfortable piece of gear I own. I have the standard rocket number and squadron patch/nametape combo. MARPAT helmet cover as well.

I was never chummy enough with my Flight E shop to get a MARPAT cover. But, at least I still have my helmet.

With how long the pickle suit lasts vs A2CUs, and the cost comparison, it's straight DUMB to not wear pickle suits CONUS. That fact alone blows the whole "in a combat environment, looking different makes you a valuable target" thing.

$9 Billion later, the Army basically has the same uniform as the Marine Corps except that the Marines only spent $300k (and came out with three colors/patterns: two MARPAT and the Cayote tan). That alone blows my mind.

I would spend less time on this nonsense and more time teaching hand to hand and the infantry in attack! But hey its all bout looking good I guess on a parade ground I guess. If I was in the Army I would be happy with just more range time.

What? When is the last time you heard about infantry engaging in hand to hand combat? These uniforms are designed to be an effective camouflage system, something the current ACU isn't. It has nothing to do with "looking good" and everything to do with having a uniform that is capable of being effective in a deployed environment.

Of course MARPAT was cheaper though, it's just a licensed version of the Canadian camo scheme.
